Been looking for one of these old scales....and luck would have it....I found one in Bethlehem NH.at an antique store. It can weigh stuff from 1-50 pounds. Only took me an hour,to figure out how to work it...lol. But...any of Yinz got any idea how old this is ? Thanks Nessy

Scales like that were around in the 1800s and are still being made. Is there any marks on it?

Most likely late 1800's Nessie. That is in good shape! I have some of those as well as a big cotton scale along the same lines. I like scales and have a bunch of them.

I've bought a hand full of them. Not sure why other than I thought they were cool.

I've got one and a "Beam Scale" for the really heavy stuff amazing how people over estimate the weight of animals especially deer and cougars!

I have a larger one that allways hung in my grandfathers shed where we all hung our deer. We weighted them on that.

I made one of those. More accurate than one would think.

Last week my neighbor gave me two of them... one bigger and one smaller. Very accurate and simple to use.

I have to clean them up a bit.
