Mountain lion. I've found tracks in the national forest. If I catch one I'm tagging it with my bobcat carcass tag since we don't have them here. No fences to keep them out. I know bobcats don't have mountain lion sized feet. Even a 50 pound bob.

It clearly has a tail.

I am always skeptical and there are many details left out.Put something on that exact spot for scale or you and we,have no idea what size it is.However,there is a black spot back there that could be the tail tip of a lion.The distance of that,from the rump is well proportioned for a lion.Get some scale for that picture as well as grass depth.Maybe.

Thanks,ADC.That clears it up for me,100%.The dark spot WAS the tail tip.I see now why the picture was so blurry.The video shows much more,plus,they found it's tracks.

Its a lion. Why, after 25-30 years of there being lion sightings in states not known for them, are there still people who fight every pic or sighting? Whenever there's a sighting in my home state of iowa and a blurp in some paper or website, its “waiting to hear from the DNR to confirm”.

The picture is obvious enough to me that it is a cougar walking. I though that you were joking when the question was ask What I think it was? Then I thought you wanted to know age, sex and weight. For those a better picture and size reference and where it was taken would be much nicer. But from this picture I will give my best guess: 3 to 4 year old, male about 110 lb. with a stride of 36 to 37 inches. If you had a picture of the tracks and stride length and a tape measure there I could be much more sure of exactly what was size the mountain lion was in the picture. Maybe there is something in one of the videos but I need to do something a little more useful than watch videos.
We have good snow conditions and cougar and bobcat season are in full swing so maybe I will go looking for some fresh lion or bobcat tracks. If I post a picture of the tracks I will have something like a dollar bill or a credit card so you can size reference them. LOL.
