Favorite Metal Lunch Box as a Kid? - 12/11/20 01:36 PM

What was your favorite metal lunch box growing up as a kid? I still have a couple of my favorites but the Space Program Astronaut, with the secret milk money compartment- still a favorite. The glass lined Thermos seemed to last about a week for me, I remember pouring slowly to separate shards of glass from milk on its last usable day.

Kind of interesting topic. Just the other day we were talking about those old kids metal lunches. I had one and maybe two through the years just can't remember. They came with a small thermos that would keep things hot or cold. I beleive mine was Roy Rogers. Lol

Talking about the lunch boxes. I was at the local clinic/hospital this week and in walked a doctor I have known for many years, and he was carrying one of those old time kids lunch box and two books. Lol I had to smile and brought back old memories.

mine was a black Stanley that the thermos fit in the top.

like this https://www.amazon.com/Stanley-4002764-P-Classic-Lunch-Box/dp/B00NONCNGE?th=1&psc=1

although I think mine was some sort of heavy plastic

Mine was spiderman

Those old lunch boxes are now collectables, and if you have the matching thermos you have struck gold

Many of those old lunchbox thermoses can bring you a large handful of nice hundred dollar bills if it’s in good shape, while the boxes themselves might only be 20 to a couple hundred dollars depending on the artwork

About 10 years ago or so, the company I work for had to clear a site for a new Dollar General. On the site previously was an old 5&10 Ben Franklin store. There were 6 semi trailers full of old stuff, brand new. You name it. The excavation guys pick through it first and there were brand new metal lunchboxes. Batman, spiderman, you name it.

My friends Beatles lunch box that I stomped on and smashed in about 1965; it would probably be worth a few dollars today.
