Just got a beaver spot. - 12/18/20 03:39 AM

I was just thinking I wouldn't get any beaver this year becuse the one place I have that I trap that had beaver has not had any move in since I trapped them out last year.

I'm not much of a beaver trapper. I have only traped beaver that were add ons and causing problems and damage for the property owner. I have never aggressively targeted them.

I just received a text from a guy I used to work with " you need to come trap these beaver or show me how to because they are getting out of hand".

So I have a beaver spot and while I'm there will put out a few traps for other species I see sign for. The only problem is distance and time. I will only be able to run a 2- 3 day line becuse of my work schedule and distance .

I hope I can get most of them quickly. I only have 2 mb 750s and one 330 since I dont trap beaver and the traps are expensive to have if you dont use them. I can Barrow my boys 2 #5 bridger as well as set snares. I guess I may have to set for a few days the pull for a week and go back. for a few days if I dont get them quickly. I haven't seen it yet but I'm really hoping I can get it done quickly because if time constraints. I will have to trap when I'm working becuse I work with in 45 min of his land. But I work 12 and 16 hr shifts normally 16.
It stinks becuse I wont be able to have my boys with me and watching them get excited is what it's all about. I honestly wouldn't mess with it if it wasn't for a friend.

But I should get to catch a few beaver and I didnt think that was looking likely for this year. I'm probably going to get a few k9 and coon sets out tomorrow on the farm. It will be the first steel I set this year and I'm looking forward to it.

When you want to remove all the beaver trapping for a few days then taking a few days or a week off then trapping again can work to your advantage,
When you first set up-go in heavy-set all the traps you got(within reason).

I find this method extremely effective. Good advise.
