You're not old as long as you don't throw in the towel and stop doing the things you love to do. Do that and you'll get old real fast.

As you age your body deteriorates so it is necessary to have a good very regular fitness routine...with a decent amount of work you can stop the deterioration and with a very good effort you can make gains well into your older years. Quality of life will improve.

Re: Old age is not for the weak - 12/27/20 01:42 AM

I actually split wood sitting in chair now. It takes all summer to do 6 face cords, a little at a time.
That's the key, a little at a time.
Marty's right, don't ever stop moving, or you will drop dead immediately. Good luck.

I always figure that getting out and trapping, no matter how much it hurts, is better than sitting around waiting for my Prostate to explode.

Bob Hope once said about old age:

"First you forget names."
"Then you forget faces."
"Next you forget to zip up."
"Last you forget to zip down."

Glad you’re feeling better. I’m only 45 but have broke my back twice. It hurts constantly. No fun at all! My main problem is my memory. For example I had a bad morning and just remembered I didn’t flip coyotes sick. 6 miles from there now on a tractor dang!!

Re: Old age is not for the weak - 12/28/20 09:28 PM

My dad is 83, will be 84 next month. He’s always said know matter how old you get, never stop moving. He and my 75 year old mother get out and work in the yard every single day no matter what. Heck, Pops was on the roof last week blowing leaves off, lol. He’s been telling us that since we were kids to never stop moving and always have a plan and he’s right. If I stay inside all I want to do is sit in the recliner and sleep it seems like. Stay active...take a walk...lift weights...chase the wife around the house, lol.

Re: Old age is not for the weak - 12/29/20 12:41 AM

For me the best thing to do is keep doing something. Be active physically so one can bend and keep from pulling muscles or worse. Also I try to keep my mental activity up, reading, doing word puzzles, crosswords etc. When I am not active a day is a long time, when I am active time goes by too fast as compared to when I was younger, stronger, quicker etc.

I haven't decided what to do when I grow up. I'm only 89. I don't do much but do keep my body limbered up and keep my feeble mind active. For the last month I have been using a Revitive electric stimulator to tickle my lower legs. It seems to help.

My old boss is 86 years young and I will ask him if I can get him anything or do anything for him.
He always replies, “ a blonde, a brunette and a redhead and call Twiford’s (funeral home).

I then ask him if he thinks they can get all three of them in the same hearse and he always busts out laughing.
