You don’t need to over spend on an upper and lower, there all very similar unless you want fancy tooling or engravings. I’ve had great results with Anderson upper and lowers. The parts you don’t want to be cheap on are the barrel and the bolt carrier group, that’s your main operation!

Re: Ok Gun Guys - 01/19/21 07:41 PM

what is available is a facter at the moment also

this would be a decent kit https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa...moe-ept-rifle-kit-w-mbus-sight-set1.html

I have used EPT triggers they are not ALG but they are decent. you can change that out later if you want better yet.

besides that kit a hollow roll pin starter punch https://www.amazon.com/Squirrel-Daddy-Hollow-Starter-Holder/dp/B01BL4TW3Y#customerReviews

and a set of roll pin punches , a deck of playing cards , some painters tape a small hammer and a magazine type vice block although you can cut your own from a block of wood

if you prefer the minimalist stock https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa...t-ept-rifle-kit-with-mbus-sight-set.html

Wilson makes awesome stuff in everything they do you pay for that but if you have the money

BCM is also good stuff

Aero uppers and lowers are nice

what are you looking for the best of the best in every category? or good serviceable parts to get started in AR building?

a build yourself project or a already built rifle ?

Nitride barrels are hard durable and cost effective or FN chrome lined barrels are also nice , criterion does a nice crome lined also https://criterionbarrels.com/products/ar-15/ar-15-hybrid-mid-gas-barrel-chrome-lined/?v=00dc5da36527

I like the Anderson and Aeropricision parts, Wilson combats makes awesome barrels, built a 204 upper with one of their barrels. Free floating barrels are accurate, get yourself one of the slim profile hand guards. 18-20 barrel would be the nicer ones

Thanks for all the Info Guys. I have been kicking this around for long time. Friends have told me you can build cheaper and better for the $$ then you would spend. Looking into all options. The Gun is proably be the cheapest thing. Ammo whole another ball park.LOL.

Re: Ok Gun Guys - 01/20/21 07:06 PM

there is a tax on complete rifles that doesn't exist on build your own

you could last year buy an complete upper a complete lower and take 2 seconds to pop them together as long as they were not purchased as a complete gun it could save you 50 dollars or so just in that.

the real question Did you pull the trigger and buy parts , er-not ?
