Higher gas prices mean fewer US oil producers going bankrupt.

When Biden gets done, gas and Diesel will be $5.00 a gallon.

BS it means less demand. People don't go driving for fun with $4 a gallon gas. That means more on-line spending and hurting restaurants and bars, small businesses, tourist locations, etc...

Increases construction cost and kills that market. The grocery business will boom because food stamp use will increase to highs that were seen during Barry's term. After 10 months without work during the "summer of recovery' I was blessed to get in with a crew remolding Kroger stores. With all that "free" money provided by the food stamp program they had a remodeling/building boom. That boom ended in 2017 when everyone went back to work and the "free" money dried up.

And I'll call BS on that. ATV, SxS, Boat & RV sales all booming nationwide. Local dealers can't keep machines in stock. Lots of people have plenty of disposable income. Gas over $5.00 a gallon here, has been for years. That doesn't stop folks from putting it in the tank.

Re: Gas prices - 01/21/21 12:04 AM

we still pay for gas and use it, even when it is near ten dollars a gallon, just make getting our food a little more expensive and savor what little we harvest.

I've got a brother in law who works in the oil field in ND. He's in charge of 200 guys. None of them have worked for nine months due to low oil prices. Do the research and see how many oil companies have folded in the last two years.

You can only drill so many wells and have so much production and stockpile....

Do you think Bidens Global Warming Fixing Plans include drilling more wells and pumping more oil?

That's nuts. They haven't stopped drilling here for oil and gas.

Saw earlier keystone pipeline is no longer valid. Issued by Biden via EO.

He might not directly but with regulations and the red tape it will force it to end, because the plans are to be rid of fossil fuels which to me means fracking will end.

Up 40 cents here in the last week
Posted By: Steven 49er

Re: Gas prices - 01/21/21 03:43 AM

The price of oil is mostly determined by the strength of the American dollar. What happens to that dollar will be a result of what has already happened.

Take a look around, beans, wheat, corn, scrap iron, copper all up.

Get your traps cleaned up boys.

Not exactly Nome. Higher OIL values with consistent production costs equals more profit for oil companies. Higher gas prices might come from higher oil prices, or they might come from increased fuel tax or tariffs, which doesn't contribute to profits. High oil prices are good for oil economies like ours, but not for consumers outside those economic circles.

Couple days ago it was $2.29 gas, 2.69 diesel here. Didn't check today.

Re: Gas prices - 01/21/21 04:51 PM

Back in 1972, just as I was going on active duty in the Navy, there was a gas war going on between the gas stations in LaCrosse (WI) and I paid $.09/gal. Filled up my Dad's Ford Pinto for about $.80 total. The average price of a barrel of crude was $3.50-5.00 +/-

The 1973 oil embargo started the ball rolling on higher gas prices in the U.S., and it continues to this day. Regardless, we pay well below what drivers in Europe and Asia pay.

Just saying....
