Any *foot*hold that will work just fine.

Yup,

Any “foot” hold will work fine. Go with what is cheaper so you can buy more of them. Foot holds that is, I’d stay away from leg holds since they don’t exist.

Order some Duke traps
You won’t be disappointed

Duke 1 1/2 double jaw, best coon trap value.

Yeah you’ll be GREATLY disappointed. I am not a fan of duke! Go with the Bridger.

To answer this, the no bs is 10X the trap the bridger is.

I have a couple. I was just trying to weigh my options and see if it's worth buying the Bridger 1.5 Special

Go to a trap store and get them in your hand ...wherever you want to compare

You will know right away which ones you want to own for decades.

The ko is a better trap out of the two. That said, i dont like either one. I dont like the levers on the ko and dont like how the pan and trigger meet on the bridger. I think someone nailed it with the duke dbl jaw being the best option available. 2nd being the regular duke. 3rd, or maybe tied for 2nd for me would be to find some used victors for 50/doz and put some 1.5 music wire springs on. Remember that having a pair of rubber gauntlets on when its 35 degrees makes setting 100 traps quickly a lot harder than barehanded at a summer convention. The dukes and victors set better for me, even with strong music wire.

Then there's these Rare Tuff birds

Talk about able to hold an otter or Godzilla.

I'd also just go with the Duke DJs. Great coon trap.

Don't own either. Have dozens of old Vic's that have caught countless fur of all three types of animals and more

I would vote Duke double jaw, also. Not as much weight to lug around and holds, pretty much, everything that steps in them.

My coilsprings are OLD Victor. Keep good chains and springs on them. I ran 1.75 springs or 1.5 music wire springs. They are laminated too.
I have caught and held muskrat, mink,'coon and also the occasional coyote, red, and beaver.

Re: 1-1/2 leghold thread - 01/21/21 04:50 PM

I had some older Victor 1 1/2 coils that easily held coon and mink. I thought they were overkill a little for rats with their fine bones.
The most amazing and powerful for their size coils I ever owned were some older Montgomerys. I think they would hold a large beaver by a toe.

For mink and muskrats I don't want any type of pan tension.

The duke 1 1/2 is my favorite water trap , hands down the best springs on the market . I've never owned a no Bs ive got a bunch of dukes a few dozen bridgers and a bunch of Nortwoods . I havnt needed any water traps since no b.s. came around .
