As I understand it 42,000 jobs were directly lost with a stroke of the pen... That's not counting those indirectly effected... Guys like me who make money installing/maintaining power, controls, and instrumentation at pipeline/oilfield facilities.

I'm sure I can move over to alternative/green energy projects... That I'll be paying for through increased taxes.

Hail to the thief.

What is the big picture behind this?

Re: keystone pipeline/jobs question - 01/22/21 01:24 AM

This is just the beginning
Our oil industry here has already been crippled since COVID started
And things like this are not going to help
We had over 100 employees where I work before COVID and now we’re down to around 30
Bad deal all around

Seems they want to destroy the USA and what it stands for. They figured out if they say they are doing it for the environment most people are too ignorant to see the danger coming.

Stopping the pipeline and other such energy projects will have many ripple effects. My son works as a Project Manager for a steel fabrication outfit. Much of what they do, as well as many of their various contractors, is connected to the pipelines, etc. He is very worried about the future of that whole industry.

He is very good at what he does, and he will find something of the whole mess goes down, but he has a young family, mortgage, and bills, and all the other expenses of a young family, so this may turn into a stressful time for him, and us.

I keep hearing unity unity, but all I see in the last two days is division and revenge actions.

There are unseen motives. It's not for the environment.

Instead of moving oil by pipeline, we'll burn thousands of gallons of fuel to move the oil by truck and rail. Better for the environment?

In reality, it probably does not effect jobs. Less pipeline jobs but more rail and trucking jobs. Still a stupid idea.

He is well-known and well-respected in the steel fabrication industry. He brought the world of CAD/laser projection into this area. He is also an accomplished blacksmith with a head for working metal. He is currently working on development of predator calls on his 3D printer at home. Plus, he's my kid so he will make it, but the initial aspects will be messy for him.

I DO like Dave Ramsey.

High school class mate was told to go home 30 minutes after the signing! He's been making more money than he ever has in his life. All the unions were for Biden even though they knew it would put their members out of work, just another reason i have no use for unions.

Trickle down effect will kill many more jobs at all the business's that supplied materials for the line as well, then of course those people not support local business's and on and on and on it goes. But the country wanted to go back to the Obama years of wars, famine and chaos.

Comrade Bidens dark winter begins.

Maybe the Canadians will now build a pipeline to Vancouver and ship the oil to China ?
Posted By: Bigfoot

Re: keystone pipeline/jobs question - 01/22/21 09:43 PM

Most of the line is complete and transporting oil its not just a straight shot like it's supposed to be when finished . There are ways to route around the unfinished section .
The keystones carries alot of oil from the Dakota's its not just canadian oil .

Wonder how much the Unions contributed to the Dems for the B/H election? I got out many many years ago, but they were ALWAYS telling me who I should vote for if I valued my job, lol.

Canada completed the pipeline from northern Alberta too Burnaby(Vancouver) in the early 50’s.

Plenty of oil is already going too China.

Work on twinning it is currently ongoing, contrary too what bozo sezs.
