Who hear has heard of or experienced a snow squall?

Last night we got hit with a snow squall. I went outside around 2230 and saw it was snowing then I heard an alert on my phone which landed up being a snow squall warning. I had to duckduckgo it and it is basically a haboob with snow instead of dirt. We only got 3/4" all said and done.

How is a squall different than a whiteout or blizzard?

Squall to me is a sudden, heavy, quick weather event. Snow squalls come up fast snows heavy but doesn't always last long. Happens a lot here so heavy can't see past your nose and then done.

Flatlands and high winds here make for a lot of them whatever you want to call them, here we get 2” of snow and 40 MPH winds then the fields are bare but the ditches and home places are buried in drifts along with every gate you need to get through.

You should try living in a lake effect snow area.

All the Great Lakes has a great effect on the weather all year long. Ir lake Michigan freezes over the weather will stay about the same all winter.
