Looking for 70’s Ford 4x4 - 01/28/21 12:06 AM

Anybody got a lead on a 70’s model Ford 4x4. I’d prefer a standard transmission and something in the 77-79 year range. I need something close to southern Ohio. Not looking for a show truck or anything fancy. Just a decent truck.

Sorry I can't help locate one for ya, but it reminds of a truck I had straight out of high school. 79 Ford F150 metallic black paint, 32" tires, short box, looked terrific but the big part was under the hood. 429ci. high rise intake 750 Holly 4 barrel, crazy fast and powerful. One of the few vehicles I ever ha that I really wish I still had. Looked a lot like this one...

I had one two. It was a long bed and a 460. Pass everything but a gas station. I still got the motor out of it. The truck just rusted apart.

Just saw one on Saturday few miles east of here. Pretty slick old truck. Not sure what they're asking for it, but it's a little ways away from Ohio

A friend of mine had one like you described until a short bus ended that ford.

Not looking to spend 80k for a truck. Just want something older. I got a lot of parts for these trucks. Be easy for me to keep it running.

Good luck with that search. I've kept my eyes open for a 78-79 shortbed for years. When you find one that has been reasonably restored, they want the price of a new truck for it. Found one in Florida last year that was nearly everything I wanted except it was an automatic. It was nearly 30k. My buddy had one in high school that implanted my dream truck. 78 shortbed, 460 stroker, 4 speed with giant lift and 38 mickey Thompson's. He could drift that truck backwards down a hill on pavement and dump the clutch to do a burnout that any Mustang would be proud of.

That's all we had!

Heck of a chore to get them all rolled up to get the hip boots on.

77 F150 with a 302 and C4. In the process of swapping in a fuel injected 5.0 and AOD. 2 wheel drive though, and not for sale grin

Nice truck but 2wd wouldn’t make it up the hill where I need to go. Me and a buddy put a 302 ho out of a mustang and in a 77 2wd short bed one time. It definitely would run.

I had a 79 1 ton and an '80 3/4 ton. I never walked so much in my life.

Both with seemingly unsolvable electronic issues.
