Where's the best place to have a beaver coat made? - 01/28/21 12:34 AM

So, I have a bunch of nice winter beaver pelts and was thinking that this would be a good year to have a coat made for the wife. Thinking about plucked, sheared and dyed. Thanks.

I can't offer specific advice as to who you should have make a coat, but be sure to do some research. There are a many "furriers" who can sew beaver skins together. The trick is to find one who can make a stylish, well tailored coat that doesn't just look like a furry potato sack with sleeves.

Depends on what kind of coat you want.If you want a stylish tailor made dress coat you need to contact a fur designer/furrier.
You can buy patterns to make a parka with a hood for cold weather use.Not complicated to make one of those.

I'm looking for a stylish, dress type coat or jacket. I don't want to do something that makes her look like a beaver walking on it's hind legs. We've been married for 23 years and I've never gotten her anything really nice that's just for her. Not to mention that out of the thousands of pelts I've produced since we've been together, I've never gotten her anything fur.

Take her to a fur salon and let her try some beaver can be a heavy fur and add a lot of bulk to a woman also can be to classy to wear informally depending on how it is styled. You might want to consider a vest first especially with sheared and plucked beaver or a reversible coat. spending that much make sure she is happy with what she gets.

This is good advice.

I would say USA Foxx, but I had them make a hat from a beautiful coyote I got about 10 years ago. It's been coming apart at a couple of the seams. So, I called them about possibly fixing it for me. They said fur hats don't last much longer than that. I would be better off to have them make a new one. I fixed it myself with some Super Glue.

I get the joke. But you can actually make a really good useable hat by chrome tanning the skin your hat is made of (you'll have to tan it yourself though). The advantage of chrome tanning is the hat can repeatedly get wet and dry out with no bad effects.

Dead right on this Waggler, the pattern is the most important single item in how a fur coat looks on any particular women's frame. Find someone who has spent the money with a good designer and has a pattern that compliments your Gals proportions. A good model can make a potato sack look great in a photo. We're not all hitched to women that are that statuesque. If she thinks it makes her look good she's much more likely to wear it.......often.
