Twin Bridges T-man Spoonbill weekend - 02/12/21 07:29 PM

Good news! I called yesterday and the Park is available for gatherings...so I rented Shelter #3 for Saturday March 20th for our get-together!

There have been some new rules implemented in the Oklahoma Parks System - that being a daily parking fee. The fee is $10 per day for nonresident, $8 per day for residents and free for OK residents 62 and over. Campers get free parking. I just called and they are out to lunch; I wanted to see if more than one parking tag came with the campsite. When I am able to find out that information - I will let you know. You do have to register your vehicle at the park office whether you qualify for a free parking pass or not and the office can only take non-cash payments. There is a terminal at the park office for after-hours register...If this extra charge would keep you from attending we will comp the fee for those who need it.

We will have a meeting and discussion on whether these additional fees will prevent us from continuing to hold the event there. Other locations need to be researched and voted on, so if you have suggestions we would appreciate your help in these decisions. You can view these new rules and reserve your campsite at: www.gocampok.com

Yes! There will be the normal fish fry on Friday evening, breakfast Saturday morning and our main meal which will be pulled pork, baked beans and all of those wonderful side dishes which you always so generously contribute!

Volunteers Please!!

We will need someone to organize our demo's, so if you would like to step-up -- let me know.

And any other volunteers that would like to help make our event happen step-up also, your help will be much appreciated.

There will be a trap giveaway for our attending youngsters as well as the Kids dirt-hole set-making contest that has become the highlight of our event.

Don't forget your auction donation items as this is how, (along with cash donations), this event is sponsored.

Brrrrrrr! It is supposed to be -10 in the next few days but hopefully in the 40 days until our March 20 date,
we will see moderated temps!

Please help keep this on the first page till we can get it locked to the top!

RSVP soon, please and we hope you can come!

Cletis, I don't know if I will make it... But I have a bundle of basswood stretcher boards I'd like to donate for the auction.. a lot were never used. Coyote/Cat, Raccoon, Fox, and Mink. I'll have to find all the belly wedges for them but they're yours if you think they'll help.

We will be there. This will make Madison happy. I can bring breading, coleslaw, tartar sauce or anything you need. Just let me know. I have a really good gluten free breading that might make some people happy. I can probably find a couple of kraut balls to bring also.

Hate to say it, but it isn't looking good for the Eastwoods making it down this year. Still trying to find a way, hopefully it will work out.

Who has the best paddlefish recipe?

Last time I got to go, I took one of the big canoe paddle sized filets and put it in the smoker.

Brushed with olive oil, and lightly seasoned with lemon/pepper, and garlic.

Don't forget to trim off the red meat on the lateral line.

Re: Twin Bridges T-man Spoonbill weekend - 03/06/21 12:07 PM

I took the smoked paddlefish to a family gathering and they devoured it like peaceful protesters at a TV store.

Re: Twin Bridges T-man Spoonbill weekend - 03/10/21 10:19 PM

Marty is going to try to make it.....but has some obstacles that may prevent him from making it......on a more positive note Coolstucco called me today and is making a batch of his Krautballs and something new......Shrimpballs....now they may be small....but we will see about the outcome.....looks as if our gathering may be smaller this year , but that may give us more time to visit......let us know if you are going to make it as it is getting close to grocery shopping time.......See you there Cletis

NOTICE visited with the park officials about the parking fees. And got good news. The fee is for a full 24 hours starting when you register and pay.

So the one parking fee would cover the fri evening fish and into Saturday evening .
