Do you really - 02/22/21 06:58 PM

think it is worthwhile contacting you Congressmen on any issue?

Re: Do you really - 02/22/21 06:59 PM

No, not the ones in my state. But, there I am still writing and calling.

Well, only if you are calling or writing to agree with them on the stance or decision that they have already made.

Which in my case, is never.

I write letters and it doesn't seem to have done any good. I'll keep writing them though. Bet it has me on someone's WATCH LIST

Exactly

It's a waste of time for me to write to my two senators; both are far left.

If your senators or representatives have close election races, I think it worthwhile. On certain issues which are close calls I think voter opinions carry some weight. Otherwise your opinion will be noted and ignored.

No, Don Young votes the right way on everything anyway.
I think I remember only once he voted the wrong way.

Re: Do you really - 02/22/21 08:01 PM

... maybe if you were to include enough money with your letter.........

Re: Do you really - 02/22/21 08:55 PM

Absolutely, yes! They track calls and if you're really insistent some high ranking flunkie will definitely take note. Does it sway a vote? Maybe not always but it definitely puts those opposed on notice and those on our side definitely need every bit of praise they can get.

Re: Do you really - 02/22/21 09:19 PM

If it wasn't worthwhile, I don't think the Antis and leftists would spend so much money on their letter & comment campaigns. And they spend A LOT. The left has been very successful the last couple decades in campaigning and lobbying, changing public perceptions over decades, and it's worth taking note. Yes your comment is only a drop in the bucket, but the bucket needs drops.

It's important to know that letters, comments and polls are not just about the current proposal or representative. Records are kept, and those records may be more valuable than the current vote. Next time an issue comes up, or a local proposal is expanded to the state, or you get a different representative and a similar proposal comes up, there is a very good chance they will look at the history of support. If the antis write letters and you don't, then the next rep is going to say "well, looks like everyone supported this leftist bill last time."

America is turning socialist because the socialists started playing the long game decades ago, and conservatives are doing a poor job of catching up.

at least if they hear from you they realize there is some opposition , if you can in a reasonable manner use reason and logic to explain the very real short comings of something , well maybe doesn't change their mind eon bit but then they have at at lease acknowledge not everyone is on board.

Exactly. You're not trying to change their mind, you're reminding them that people will be voting against them next election.

Yes. If for nothing else, they need to be reminded who they work for.

In most cases by the time you hear about a bill, it is on is way to become law. I see the head man just made it easier to become a citizen. TO LATE. I can say those people are at least working to become a citizen, that is better than most. IMO

Notice I said "I think I remember". My only recollection is that I once read of a vote of his that kind of surprised me. But we really need about 400 more US Congressmen like him.

Congressman Don Young and yours truly about five years ago, just after we helped him load some steel and lawn mower into the back of his pickup.

Not true at all. We get a lot of stuff killed in committee. If it's on the evening news it might be too late.

Yes, ours is great, has never failed to respond to my email, and a lot of the times his people will call me. I also get a weekly e-mail from his office on what is going on, and any proposed bills coming up. Never get a response from the ones from below the Big Mac

It makes me wonder about the mail in ballots we've had all those years

It might help and it won’t hurt.

Re: Do you really - 02/25/21 11:12 PM

Once elected it does zero good. Your time is better spent convincing other voters to either vote for or against them. Also show up to town halls and publicly rip them a new backside in a public setting, having someone video it. then play their game on social media. It's the new political hammer.
