Another big business buyout. What does it mean?

Another big business buyout. What does it mean? - 02/22/21 08:01 PM

Cooper tire here in nw Ohio (Findlay) just told their workers today that they've been bought out by Goodyear. For all of you stock watchers, it may be a good time to bail or buy. Dunno.
I have a lot of friends that have worked there since high school that are worried saying Goodyear has plants already shut down?

I've run a Cooper tires in the past. A good tire. Be a shame if they stopped making them.

Cooper tires have been declining in quality they'll fit right in with Good Year.

Might be several reasons. 1. car manufacturers have shut down quite a bit of production so demand for tires may be down somewhat. 2. Companies in similar lines of business can combine operations and eliminate the expenses where their operations overlap. Reducing overhead and making the combined entity more profitable. 3. Eliminates some competition and thus increases market share for the remaining entity.

I suspect they will still make the same named brands that were available before.

Goodyear has been losing a lot of money for a while but Cooper has been earning money . It makes sense that GT would want to buy CTB in an attempt to turn things around

Cooper may be OK tires now but Goodyear will make sure they do not stay that way. They will drag them down to their level just like Bass Pro did to Cabelas.

Also Tractor Supply is buying Orscheln Farm and Home. Have both around here and Orscheln seems to have better quality. TSC is just china mart with feed.

Say good bye to an American made tire. Cooper will probably be made in China now ?

Now will have to look for a new tire. 4th set of Coopers! GY will never be able to make as good a tire as Coopers and at their price point. cry
