Dogs Are Welcome

Dogs Are Welcome - 02/23/21 07:01 PM

I think this has been posted before. But, it's worth another look.

Dogs are welcome in this hotel. We never had a dog that smoked in bed and set fire to the blankets. We never had a dog that stole our towels and played the TV too loud, or had a noisy fight with his traveling companion. We never had a dog that got drunk and broke up the furniture....So, if your dog can vouch for you, you're welcome too. grin

I leave any store that allows dogs, other than being walked to a pet wash station. Nothing but people looking for attention.

Just another reason to take a dog with you now. LOL

Keep your dog in your car or at home or at a shelter. Some people are allergic. Thanks

Re: Dogs Are Welcome - 02/23/21 09:49 PM

My personal favorite is when people bring in their obviously fake "service" dogs. If you actually need a service dog, absolutely, but buying a vest off Amazon, and letting it jump on others and mess on the floor, get out of the store. That little fake service dog vest severely limits what employees are allowed to ask, so it is a sticky situation.

I haven't noticed this at all. I see dogs in various stores all the time but have never been bothered by them.

Seen a few at TSC maybe twice and one day was their pet day so I think it’s not a big deal really. Might of happened more but if there was a dog around I’d know it. LOL

I've seen better behaved dogs in stores on and off the lease than most kids. :-(

Re: Dogs Are Welcome - 02/23/21 10:58 PM

I was at a trapping convention in Duluth many years back my dog went everywhere with me then, great dog. I get there and no dogs allowed so he goes in the truck with the windows down a bit and water. I go in to the show and here is a lady with a dog on a leash part of the people putting it on I believe. I reached down to pet it and it went after me I just shook my head and went back to my booth.

More about the people then the dogs that time. LOL

It seems silly to me but I'm not a dog lover

Nothing like going to a grocery store and seeing someone hauling a dog around in a grocery cart. That is about as rude as one can get in my opinion.

I’d rather see a large woman with a dog than see her in Yoga pants...

Dogs are cool, It's peaple that are worthless. My dog earns her stay. She definitely doesn't draw welfare like 50 percent of the country.

I'm a dog lover, so i dont mind as long as dog behaves. people who are allergic to dogs, thats your problemi, i wouldnt alter my life because you knew you had a problem and went somewhere that could potentially cause you issues.

Fact of the matter is i've met a heck of a lot more people i didnt like than dogs i didnt like, so i'll take dogs over people

Re: Dogs Are Welcome - 02/24/21 12:55 AM

Dogs are a useful tool but I see no need to have them in stores unless they're pulling a travois behind them instead of using a shopping cart. Maybe release the hounds on a shoplifter.

All i know is when this old man goes around town with his little maltese dog i sure do get a lot more attention from the pretty women, now this might not work with some old coonhound.

Re: Dogs Are Welcome - 02/24/21 01:26 AM

This turned into quite the gripe and moan thread! I had no idea there were so many TRAPPERS with such an aversion to animals... if we let them in the store, whats next??? ANIMALS IN THE WOODS??

There are a lot more people severely allergic to nuts than dogs... I've never thought twice about eating nuts in public, nor have I been asked not to. Most people take responsibility for their own allergies.

There's nothing "rude" about someone else putting their own dog in their own shopping cart. They probably put it in their own car too! It has absolutely nothing to do with you. If it's germs or allergens you're worried about, I'm sure there are much worse things on a shopping than dog dander.

If a dog is leashed and under control, then it doesn't make any difference whether it's on a sidewalk, in a park, on a trail, or in a store. If a store chooses to allow dogs, that's their right. If you don't like it, don't shop there. Freedom of choice is a beautiful thing.

I don't have any "need" to take my dog in the store, just like I don't need to take my kids in. I do it for the same reason: because they enjoy it! I think my pup likes Home Depot almost as much as hunting. My kids love it too.

Funny how we like to judge other people's behavior based on "need", but judge our own by freedom and choice, eh?
Some of you sound like the folks saying we don't "need" guns or trapping... whistle

Re: Dogs Are Welcome - 02/24/21 03:14 AM

The point i was trying to make was you can tell how one's kids behave by how well there dog behaves and vise versa.
Its about manners show up at my place or any of the ranches I've worked and let your mutt out without permission and see how that goes for you. Or try to tell my dogs what to do..

I just went through the Seattle airport, and you wouldn't believe all the "comfort" dogs walking around with their owners.

Re: Dogs Are Welcome - 02/24/21 01:25 PM

I am allergic to cats and dogs. I always request a “ non pet “ room at a hotel. I can tell within five minutes if a dog has been in that room.

I see no reason a person takes their dog to Home Depot unless they need the dog to show them how to pick out a straight 2x4.

Re: Dogs Are Welcome - 02/24/21 01:55 PM

I put up with your kids you can put up with my dog is the way I look at it in most cases. If people don’t like my dog my house has 3 exits the dog lives here you don’t. LOL if you have allergies we would talk outside then 2 porches or 2 sheds lots of options. That said I go to the store the dog stays in the truck I don’t trust people around her. wink

Quit shopping farm and fleet and other store that allows it. Dogs are still animals and a risk to all. Seen to many bit attacked by family friends and the owners know their dogs so well!

I was in Runnings in Moorhead MN a few weeks ago. A lady brought in a Shetland pony and a Goats. Was pulling a big featherlite trail for a pony and goat, The horse and goat both crapped on the floor. Little round turds rolling around and horse apples.

It must be look at me, come pet my animal.

Good one. BTW, the post is meant to be a joke. Not to be taken seriously. I don't care for dogs in stores either unless they are a genuine service dog.

Or, they could be responsible pet owners. They could be socializing their pet so it doesn’t become a spastic unpredictable nut case around people. Different perspectives and opinions I guess.

If I, like you, left every store that allowed dogs except for washing. I couldn’t go to home improvements like Lowe’s, no feed/farm stores, most hardware stores, saw shops, outdoor stores, marine supplies, rigging supply, I couldn’t go to anywhere I enjoy going aside from the grocery. Are you an online shopper?
