Nice. We've only had them around my house for three or four years. No season in my zone.
I travel to a different zone and just a 6 day season before they're prime. Love seeing them

I stepped between one and my neighbour's cat right in my driveway a few years ago. My neighbour thought I was the king for saving the stupid thing.

I had one chomp down on my finger releasing it this year before fisher season. It felt like my finger got stuck in a twenty ton press. They got some power

Some claim a shrew is size which.

The taming of the shrew is no small matter. It is the world's smallest mammal but a most ferocious, ill-tempered and bloodthirsty creature. Its body is only 2 to 4 inches long, tail included, but it will eat animals several times its size. ... That is equivalent to an adult human eating 100 to 200 pounds of food

Get bite by one and your hand goes paralyzed for hours, trust me.
and it's not pound per pound but micro-gram per kilo gram force.

Cool pic Bruce T

Shrews actually supposedly have some sort of “venomous” bite. The venom is secreted from the saliva glands and paralyzes prey. The shrew just needs to nip prey enough to break the skin, and game over
