Used tractors - 03/12/21 01:02 AM

Are just like used trucks right now. Higher than Cheech and Chong. Went and bought a new one today and traded in the old wore out one. They gave me all my money back that I paid for it new back in 2014. That new one sure is shiny. Cost a little more than they did in 2014 though. Can't complain about kubota holding it's resale value.

Traded in the m9960 and bought the new and improved m5-111. Wasn't gonna do it at first, but the more I thought about it, I used a tractor for almost 8 years that I didn't put anything down on it, financed at 0 percent interest and got all my money back. Why not do the same thing again and have a new tractor. Only problem I ever had with the old one was the hose clamps wanted to come loose on them. Don't think much of the factory clamps they use.

Bought a L3960 I think it is 5 years ago, with a finish mower, front end loader, backhoe attachment with a thumb, hydrollic adjustable blade and a tiller. Did same thing. Nothing down, 0 percent for 5 years on everything. Just got it payed off and I would bet it would bring back everything I payed for it. Love that little tractor and probably use it more than the big one. Not had first problem with it.

Nice work. Post how you like the m5 111. My main baling tractor is a m9540 the model before the 9960, kubotas are tough for sure

Re: Used tractors - 03/12/21 02:41 AM

They suppose to deliver it next week. This one has a wider cab with a small foldable jump seat. Looks like more electronic crap than a man needs, but proud to see you don't have to remember to push that ECO button every time you start it. Gotta add DEF to this one. Front end loader supposedly lifts more weight and higher. That could get interesting cause the old one would pick more than what the tractor would handle. Gonna take some getting used to. Did I mention it's awful shiny? grin

Just bought an M5660 two weeks ago with a loader. I'm having more fun than should be allowed.

Re: Used tractors - 03/12/21 09:25 AM

Purchased this 1990 CaseIH 885XL this winter at a decent price. First cabbed tractor I owned after borrowing one for several years from a large farm friend. Sure is nice clearing snow to get in the woods to pull firewood. Now I need to do some trail maintenance to remove any branches at cab height.

Not sure if I am fully sold on it. Would like a power reverser and bucket mount is pin type so forks to load logs are a chore to switch over to. I feel I can get my money and maybe even a little more out of it if decide to sell.

If your biggest problem is loose hose clamps I think you've got the right tractor!

I looked at the used market when I needed a compact tractor and went with a new one after seeing when used ones are going for.

This is where I'm at. With zero % and the way tractors hold their value it's about the only logical option if your wanting anything newer.

Mine is a 1965 ih 424 and I have pictures of my great grandfather on it. I could use something newer with front wheel assest and quick attach loader.

My problem is I really need 2. One 60-80 horse for the farm and a smaller one to hall around for moving logs when I do tree work.

Have you paraded thru a gun show or pawn shop lately? Slightly used and even well used condition are not just being priced as new but nobody is haggling and they are bringin new prices. It is unbelievable.

Dude the first thing I did with my new tractor was drill some holes into the ROPS to fit extra lights and a gun rack. Then put a bridge into that darn safety switch under the seat. I think it is safe to say that I am well o my way to redneckhood lol and lestan101 is showing me the way one could call him my naviator that keeps me off the straight and narrow .

Yeah you'll git there. Make sure and weld 3 or 4 chain hooks to the bucket- helps for yankin up posts or tree stumps and mighty handy when ya gotta juggle a chicken coop!

Want to get a small hobby tractor with snow thrower attachment for my drive(I hate belt drive ones on riders) anything I should look for to have adequate PTO? Quick seasonal hook up/removal? Will also get a front loader and bucket. I don't need mower(have two HD riders, both belt drive.

Done that long ago and put a couple on the pallet fork frame that helped with juggling the chicken coop. It lookalike I am way ahead of the game lol... come to think of it, the only attachment that I have for the tractor that I have not welded chain hooks onto is the disk harrow

Re: Used tractors - 03/13/21 12:53 AM

Got to get her rigged up so you can get a extension ladder mounted in the bucket so you can trim tree branches. That will for sure get you a 3rd degree hillbilly card.

I always weld some plate steel on the bucket then the hooks on to that. Spreads the force and will keep from ripping a hole in the bucket.
