I mean real close. So close you see aliens now and then stealing water from your hydrants.

How long has border crossing illegally been going on, surely for years. Just that we get media involved now. Can anyone say it hasn't been bad before? Sincere question.

I wouldn't get too worked up about someone needing a drink of water.

From what a friend of mine in Texas says we brought them in during world war 2 to work and produce products and food for war effort some never left and they just kept coming he watches them all the time 10 miles from the border never had a problem he says he sees just as many going back across when they run out of work. They cant afford to stay when the ranch and farm work runs out so they go back across. Friend also in Green Valley AZ says he sees them but never had a problem.

Was curious if people are seeing more now with all the hype, if the numbers are increasing that are tryning to sneak across as well.

I knew an old guy, Jim, who was a Korean War Veteran. Jim said they had trouble with Mexicans coming across the border, in the 1950s, right after he left the service. The Mexicans would take anything of value, including cars and trucks, they could. He and the other ex soldiers he was living on the ranch with would shoot towards any groups of Mexicans they saw and throw grenades towards them, if they were closer. I asked if they ever got any Mexicans and he told me they never bothered to check. I suspect they really just tried to scare the Mexicans off rather than kill them.

It was getting bad a couple years ago. Trump put and end to it and those with boots on the ground agreed,..it worked and was working well until you know who got in and cancelled it.
It's unfortunate that so many that have applied the legal way and wait so long, now have to watch as thousands every day pour across the border. Border officials have stated they are coming now in record numbers.

Bingo. MSLSD, clinton news network, public bull stuff, same crap. Sane, intelligent people know better and we need to start teaching people instead of accepting their stupidity.

Re: Anyone live in the border? - 03/13/21 09:27 PM

While i dont want or agree with thousands of illegal aliens flooding the US swallowing up our resources, i do think the majority of the people coming in groups or “caravans” have little to no ill intentions and are taking advantage of what they feel is opportunity. Im more curious about the ones with 75 lbs of meth or fentanyl strapped to their backs, if the numbers have increased dramatically the past few months. People who live on the border would likely see that.

Exactly.

The issue is it's currently 10's of thousands flooding the crossings a month. So many right now the coyotes (human smuggler) now give amusement park style wrist bands to keep track of "their customers". This influx started with Obama admin gained momentum when the wall was being built then significantly slowed down. Now that Biden is "in charge" and policies essentially making the border open there's a massive flood of immigrants not just from Latin America coming.

Re: Anyone live in the border? - 03/13/21 09:36 PM

I think the majority are looking for the American dream and a better way of life. I think the wall needs finished and the system revamped so these people can legally enter without waiting yearz and costing them a small fortune. I mean now preference goes to college grads and we have plenty of them but not hard working families wanting a chance at a better life.

Re: Anyone live in the border? - 03/13/21 09:45 PM

Illegal aliens from almost every terrorist country have been arrested at the US Mexican border. 11 Iranians were arrested invading the US last month. Over 80% of the people arrested recently, invading the US are not Mexican. Many, maybe most people make it across the border without being arrested. No one knows anything about those who are not caught.

Re: Anyone live in the border? - 03/13/21 10:35 PM

In all honesty. Back in the 80s and early 90s. The Mexicans came in droves to work. Now they come from South America, Africa for free. Big difference now to then. It would be cheaper to fly the free seekers back to where they came from. Or if you truly want the American dream. Wait your turn to get in legally. But hey what do I know. I come from immigrants that came in legally. They fled oppression and persecution. But still did it legally.

In that case, who lives near the border and wishes we would deport deadbeat Americans who don't work and sap tax dollars from hard working American taxpayers and would you mind if they take a drink on the way out of the country?

Here's an article today stating horrible conditions at 1 center. 729% over capacity, showers once a week, can't go outside or call family.

I'm only 3 hours from Juarez Mexico. Not sure if that's counts as close to the border to you. A lot of trafficking (human, drugs and weapons) comes through NM. Albuquerque is a major corridor for cartels to ship their products because of I40 and I25

I worked in Eagle Pass, TX in 2010 and we saw a lot of illegals crossing our ranch. Sleeping in tent blinds, under tower blinds, filling up canteens in water troughs.

I was taking a guest hunting one morning, opened the zipper to our tent blind and two guys flew out the door running, knocked me over and scared the crap out of me. It was a serious problem then. My respect goes to the border patrol down there, they were fast to respond when called, and showed a lot of presence. Most of the illegals we saw in groups were unarmed, but the coyotes were usually armed. They stayed away from the groups, ahead of them to lead them but far enough to escape them if caught . Watched and videoed a lot of them while scouting for deer. They are a determined bunch!

I too, am curious about the current situation. Has it worsened or tightened up ? Following ...

From what I've read it's bad in Tx, NM and Az. Haven't heard anything about California. Az had to close 3 border crossing bridges (ports of entry) because of the massive influx. Last I heard Abbott deckard SOE and sent in troops to guard the border.

Most of the invaders have cell phones, so they should say "can't call their family on the American tax payers dime". We should put the invaders in work camps for 5 years when caught, before sending them home. They would stop coming. We should highly discourage illegal aliens, with strong penalties and make it easier for guest workers to come here legally

Re: Anyone live in the border? - 03/14/21 04:31 AM

A work camp would not deter them. The majority of illegals (regardless of origin) are feeling extreme poverty, extreme crimes/ gangs/ cartels, socialism and 3rd world countries. There's no real consequence that will deter them, how will they pay their penalties when they make a few US dollars a day?
There's a lot that are caught sent to our prison system and it's a cushy life compared to their former life. They get deported come back and do it again. They get all the sane treatment or prisoners get. 3 squares free health care etc...

At least we would get work out of them. We need immigrants, but not all immigrants. There needs to be a fairly easy, legal way to let foreigners in to work, that quickly gets rid of them if they have issues.

Brother in law use to work the border. Visited 15 years ago and the illegal crossings were constant and plentiful. He actually ended up shooting a drug runner.

Local law busting quite a few in our local train yard now. Biden created a bunch . But it also is farm time, lots row crops and rice ground being prepared for the year. Also the farmers who have work visa's for their mex's can't get their regular help back because of covid

Another reason we should legalize drugs.

Legalizing drugs won't stop the black market.

It sure as heck would hit it hard.

The alternative is thirsty people sneaking drugs across the border. Our government has done a great job so far.

So you think legalizing meth, with hundreds if not 1000’s of super labs already in place in mexico, would stop black market meth? They would bring it over at 10 times the rate at 1/10 the price the gov would charge and not one gram would be regulated or taxed.

Eliminating a black market is different than impacting a black market.

Yes, legalization would greatly and adversely impact black markets for drugs.

This is correct. It was called the 'Bracero' project. Most of the money was actually paid to the Mexican government and they were supposed to later use it as a pension fund for the workers. Guess what never happened?
