Price for a concrete pad - 03/17/21 10:15 PM

I am going to build a steel building that is 60 x 40. I am trying to find out an approximate cost for a concrete pad. I believe it will be 4 inches thick with it thicker where the pillars will set.

This is my floor in my new pole barn.It is about a 7 inch floor

PSB1011, How is your market out there that low. We're a small company so I can stay under ( market value) and I'm 4 a sq ft with 10 gauge wire and sealer. I hear 5 dollar quotes around here alot

If you are talking 10 yard load and that is on the job price that seems cheap enough. Our plant will tell ya $85/yard, but by the time you get a hauling charge and winter service charge (that never seems to leave come spring, they just add more next fall mad) it will cost $125/ yard for a load over 6 yards. Anything less than 6 is another charge for short load. Dang bill looks like a phone bill with all the additional charges. crazy

Re: Price for a concrete pad - 03/17/21 11:37 PM

Now, if you did that concrete job in MEXICO, a Cement worker gets between 200 and 600 pesos on average per day. That is $29.44 PER DAY. Figure $2.94 an hour for a 10 hour work day.

I paid 170 a yard(12 yards)last fall

If this is all fact it brings a lot to light for me. Before the housing crash of 08 the hispanics would come up to the KC area and work for $6 or $8/hour cash. It sucked as lots of companies would hire them and cut our throats on bids. I always wandered how the hispanics could work for so little, but if you think about that being cash=no taxes and 10 of them splitting rent and gas to the job in there van it was a lot of money when they headed back south for the winter. crazy Hate to say it, but I expect to see it happening all over again with the current administration. mad
I do kind of miss the ladies bringing around tamales and other mexican food to the job sights at lunch time when the hispanics was thick. grin

$450.00 minimum on a small load (less than 3 yards) in my area. About $120.00 a yard after that.

Re: Price for a concrete pad - 03/18/21 12:50 AM

Just had 12+30 addition and concrete drive plus walk poured . Pad had activater and hot water (7 bucks a gal). Total was 13.5 yards Material was 2100 that is steel and all. Labor for forming and finishing was $460 bucks but I gave each of the 3 workers another 100 bucks each. Why ? Because I can afford it and they worked me in . I posted pics of the addition but haven't gotten outside to take any of drive and walkway.

$16500 here all depends on the cost of the mud delivery time miles if there is any competition the cost to lay it will be very competitive.

Phil, it has been a long time since I did any concrete work. Do you not use steel rebar or wire or mesh, or is that old school. Or is it an added charge.
thanks

I have removed a lot of concrete and the only place you find wire mesh is on the bottom and rusted. 95% rebar here.

I've installed a lot of concrete and we used a lot of wire matts. We used chairs to support the wire in the pour but we still had guys pulling wire as the pour was dumped. We did a lot of the Walmart stores as they were coming into the state. Ten and twelve thousand square foot pours were common.

When we use it, I'm always pulling it up, our lazy foreigners. Not so much.

30 cubic yards, figure you want at least 10% overage so 33 Cubic yards. Local price is 125 a yard so about $4,200 in Concrete. Not sure if you were planning on doing it yourself or having it done, no idea how concrete guys price out their work.

I had fiber in my floor. The floor cost me about $14,000,if I did it for somebody else, it would of cost them around $20,000.
Strait 4000 pound concrete cost me around $110 to $125 per yard with delivery charges.

I just got a quote awhile back for a building I have with 4”, 4500# concrete. Came back at about $4.50 a sq ft. That is concrete and labor.

I have no employees anymore,I do hire subs at $36 per hour ,and sub myself out at $36 to $52 an hour.I do carry Workers comp on my subs. That cost about $3.60 an hour for each hour they work.I am a very small company that has been in business for about 21 years.I have never even had a business card, nor sign on my truck.I have been paid in full for every job I ever did, and have never had a signed contract.

Re: Price for a concrete pad - 03/18/21 01:29 PM

I just checked on a slab yesterday,160.00 a yard delivered, and a two week wait. Average cost here to have it done with rebar is going to run at least 6.00 a square foot. If I could get the slab done for 3-4.00 I'd build a much larger pole barn.

Al,must be NY prices .I can’t find it much cheaper around here .

Re: Price for a concrete pad - 03/18/21 01:59 PM

Easily 28K here, and no one would pour only 4" thick. Concrete is like gold in this neck of the woods
Posted By: grapestomper

Re: Price for a concrete pad - 03/18/21 04:22 PM

We would not pour it 4" thick. If you figured 6" average should cover you.
should have some rebar if a steel building.
Around here you could probably get it in the $17,500 ballpark.

Re: Price for a concrete pad - 03/18/21 04:33 PM

It looks like the price varies a lot depending on where. I guess I need to get some quotes from around here after what some have said I may go 6 inches.
Posted By: Oh Snap

Re: Price for a concrete pad - 03/18/21 04:50 PM

Get a couple quotes if you can. Go with 6” and 10ga. wire. Get references if you don’t know the contractor. Look at some of their work!

Re: Price for a concrete pad - 03/18/21 04:57 PM

I'd talk to a local engineer. Given your climate, and depending on your soils, you may be ok with four inches. But I would absolutely include reinforcement with rebar and/or mesh

Re: Price for a concrete pad - 03/18/21 05:19 PM

Drainage and compaction are as important as what you put in the concrete. A good heavy base will make all the difference.

I paid $12/sq ft last summer. Nice stamped colored concrete and they had to buggy it in

What are you parking on it, use????? Your floor is only as good as your base.

Re: Price for a concrete pad - 03/18/21 07:57 PM

Guys that did mine use 2+6 forms and you get 6 inches of concrete. The grade dense grade to the specs THEN set the forms on top of that . Most set forms then fill with rock then pour. Once the forms are set no more rock put in
