The original Montgomery trap company not the modern victors called Montgomery.

The montana 3 and wolf creek dogless are copies of that design.

No.MNeric.. they're not the same
. It could be a number either a dogless. #3 montgomery or # 3 Montana. Theyre made basically the same. The montana is a little heavier framed

The trap in the picture is an original Montgomery dogless trap. Made in Mahaffey, PA.
If you look at the lower edge of the pan, you can see enough letters to make out MONTGOMERY

And I think it is #4, not a #3. The number 4 is almost right in the middle of the pan.

I have some Montana #3 dogless that are very similar. I do see now the Montgomery at the lower edge of the pan and the 4 in the middle

They also made a dog on model and many have STEP-IN stamped on the pan. There were two lever designs as well. The original was a low lever and had some issues with holding power the later high levers tried to address this. High and low refers to how high they rise on the jaws when closed.
They made a 1.5, 1.75, 2, 3 and 4

Dont forget # 1 coil spring. Not sure if they made very many.

I have a lot of the #2s and use them regularly. Hard to change the spring in though......jk
