Any thoughts on this .22 mag semi-auto? I found a pretty good deal but checking to see if anyone owns one. I suppose the .17 HMR on the same platform would be comparable.
I would take the mag over the 17hmr any day of the week. I don’t have the a22 but I have a 597 in the mag and it has been very picky on ammo. It runs flawlessly with the a22 ammo savage came out with though. I would jump at the chance to own one
I already have a Ruger 10/22 mag and a few hundred rounds of ammo, so I believe I'll buy it if it's still available. Unless, someone has some bad experience with one.
If you already own a Ruger 10/22 mag why not look into the Precision? It's not semi-auto but even the .17 uses the Ruger 22mag clips. I guess it depends what you intend to do with it. I shot raccoons for years with a 22mag but enjoy the speed and flat shooting of the .17 enough I prefer the .17 over the 22mag for calling.
I'm a big Ruger fan. I have owned Savages and enjoyed them but when it comes to reliability it's hard to beat a Ruger. I'm currently building a .223 with a new Chassis out of a base Ruger American Predator. I also picked up the precision .17 and it's turning into my favorite overall.
Mostly, I was looking at it for the semi-auto. I can carry hundreds of rounds and.... Well, nevermind.
I have an a17 it's great gun for coon calling. No jams, very accurate and very nice to have quick follow up shots on the next 4-5 coons that may come running.
So, I went in to buy the gun today. Price was $369.99. I said I would take it and he scans the tag and says the price went up to $409.99 and it is my lucky day to get it at $369.99. I priced at 3 other places $429.99-439.99. Midway has it (out of stock) at $519.99. I think I did OK.
