Huge beaver litter

I have found 6 before and heard of 8. This ole gal had 8 embryo sacks and two sacks had twins for a total of ten (10) kits. Hard to get ahead with litter like this.

I take it you dont sell beaver?

Largest beaver I ever caught weighed 86 pounds.I don't know how many young she actually had,but ahe raised 10 a year.
Missed her the first year,but caught the male and 10 young of the year, and 10 considered 2 year olds. The next fall a new mail and 10 young of the year.
Finally got her the next fall. I think that if she had been trapped in the early spring,she would have been close to 100 pounds.

WOW! The most litter mates I have caught was 6 two year olds out of a ditch. All within a pound and a half of each other.
NO adults, no young'uns. The next year I caught 1 adult there. But I only had a small stretch of this stream with heavily wooded /agriculture on either end.

Like varmitshooter said hard to stay ahead of the beaver. Around here there aren't many very serious about beaver trapping.

Fisher man, just for clarification; are you disgusted that doing away with beaver is considered a good thing in some areas, or that a pregnant female is caught, or that a pregnant female is opened up to see how many kits are inside?

Had a shrunk yesterday sporting 9 sacks.

I don't know about not being posted. The people that might be upset are all for abortion.

No matter the amount of kits, the adult female still only has 4 nipples to share to raise them.

Am I the only one to wonder how those kits would taste?

Fetal pigs were used in biology disection class 57 years ago. So I would think a lot of people would have or should have seen ,something very similar to the beaver.

That’s incredible. I don’t know how she would have successfully nursed a liter that size. As already mentioned, she only has four nipples and a limited supply of milk.
