What do you think western Minnesotans?

What do you think western Minnesotans? - 03/27/21 06:00 PM

What do western Minnesotans think about succeeding from the Twin Cities metro region and joining up with one of the Dakotas? This article has those counties joining South Dakota. Seems "out there" but maybe you all do need to create your own state, especially if the Dems create DC or PR as new states.

I would think the affected Minnnesotans would go for it but not the folks in SoDak.

I don't understand the guy's bill though. I don't believe they need the permission of Congress as long as both state legislatures agree....but I could be reading the Constitution incorrectly. No way the current Congress would allow this to happen.

Dumbest idea ever!!!

If people are dissatisfied with their government, they are free to move wherever they like. OK, "easier said than done"; but, easier than to coordinate the revamp of multiple levels of government.

And if you keep taking the EASY WAY, running from trouble... the places to run to get smaller and smaller. Liberalism is expanding because liberals are moving into conservative areas (see OR, CO, NV, NM, AZ etc). Conservatives have been flying instead of fighting for too long, and thus conservative states are shrinking and disappearing.

LMAO!!! We used to joke about taking everything East of Hwy 281 in SD and giving it to MN. Try and get rid of the 281 mentality.

My mistake. KenaiKid has some dumber ideas.

A lot of easy projects add up a lot quicker than one impossible pipe dream.

KenaiKid- One of the issues at play is that liberal places are still getting "outside replacements" that generally go along with many liberal ideas because they typically don't come from countries that have the degrees of freedom that the U.S. is supposed to have. Between 1985 and 2016 (I know they are off years from the census but I've looked up these numbers from yearly Census estimates for something I'm working on), the U.S. gained 87,000,000 people. Most U.S. states would have below "replacement" rates (2.1 to 2.3 total fertility rate) if it wouldn't be for immigration (the actual people who have come and then their kids). So, native born liberals say in Cali (because Cali tends to be one of the big in-flow immigrant states) move to places such as NV, AZ, NM, or even CO. The last two are considered as "amenity states" not only by Cali liberals but also liberals who live in more boring non-mountainous states. Same thing for western Montana. One reason you're seeing the open border going on right now. The lib-progressives think they can get enough new replacements; either the kids that will become U.S. citizens or the kids of the new illegals who will become U.S. citizens as soon as they are born, to set the conditions for continued left-leaning election victories. Until they reach that critical mass, they'll just cheat as much as possible...

Re: What do you think western Minnesotans? - 03/27/21 10:15 PM

Great idea, anyone who knows Minnesota politics knows that it’s basically the 5 county metro area (St Paul, Minneapolis and suburbs)along with Duluth and Rochester that lean heavily liberal and have the population to override the rest of the state. If you want to be governor or a statewide elected official you just cater to the metro population centers and ignore the rest of the state to win. The urban-rural divide in Minnesota continues to get worse every year. Over-regulation, restrictive business rules and permitting, and the 3rd highest overall tax burden (local, state, property, and income tax) of all 50 states. If I could pick up my farm and move 60 miles west to South Dakota I would do it in a heartbeat.
Also, Minnesota governor has been operating under special powers orders since Covid and totally decimated our small town mom &pop businesses by shutting them down while our neighboring friends to the west in South Dakota have operated like normal with basically no substantial difference in Covid numbers. Many lifetime businesses have been destroyed, it’s sad and pathetic.

Re: What do you think western Minnesotans? - 03/27/21 10:37 PM

The nice thing about waiting is you will have a lot of time later on to start doing anything about it when everything has been taken away so you’ll have the time then for sure. If you think your not getting a fair shot now I’m sure things will get better in the years to come when the game is fixed against us all. Ya that’s the ticket!

I believe a separations of States is coming to avoid civil war in the future, today things are being run on MSM lies and false fact in the name of power, if you think sitting back and trusting in the future your missing a lot.

Very sad to hear. I would like to see some large class-action lawsuits of small business against their various state governments to make them show the "science" behind such executive orders and maybe, just maybe, there would be some courageous judges that would issue injuctions against the states. One of my liberal colleagues loves to show how South Dakota (he basically dislikes-to-hates most of his fellow citizens but he and his wife have good jobs here so they won't move out of the state until they retire) leads the states (along with ND) in "per captia" covid infections. What he ignores, and I post these weekly and he could check against other states, is the "death rate" of claimed covid deaths divided by number of positive cases. When that is done, our 'death rate" has been about the same as say Minnesota say around 1.65%. But that metric would defeat his per capita SD bashing.

Hope it happens...but in reality it might be easier to just move. I've been looking around to other states lately myself. MN is run by citiots with zero sense with lots of followers.

I never said I wasn't going to vote.

It isn't the vote count that is going to change anything, though. It is only a chance to provide enough proof to move on to the next step.

Are you sure about that?

I would love to believe that, as it is what I have suspected all along. Is there a link somewhere? Comparisons of total deaths for the past few years?

My question would be how do we deal with the prison situation in MN.Most of the prisons would stay in the MN part. 2 of them, St Cloud and Faribault, where I work, are in the Big Dakota part. Not to mention the state parks. The granola eaters are not going to give them up willingly.

Re: What do you think western Minnesotans? - 03/30/21 06:39 PM

All state's electoral college votes should be divided into various sections of each state. So, one area can't determine which candidate gets all of the electoral college votes, such as what happens in MN. The Twin Cities always determines which candidate wins the state. I think there are two that already do something like that, NE & NH maybe?

You're absolutely right. Leftists have been playing the long game for a long time. And conservatives have been saying "oh well, I'll just move." I wish we had taken a stronger stand a long time ago.
