Wife’s find

Wife’s find - 04/01/21 01:38 PM

The lake we live on has been over its banks for a few years now so we lost a lot of topsoil along the new shoreline. The wife was cleaning up junk and driftwood and came across this old number 3 longspring trap hooked on a tire chain rig with bent stake. We have been here 21 years so it’s older then that.

Cool find. Makes you wonder was it set or dropped nearby.

No tags here it’s a armature set up just rigged together lucky it was on dry land all of those years it looks like the trap is still useable.

Nice!

They don't last that long around here, must not be as acidic out your way.

Just saw it was on dry land, not as bad that way.

Don't last long here either. I found a 1 1/2 Victor coil spring that was in the water for who knows how long. It was practically dissolved. Nothing even salvageable on it.

Tire chain works as a drag and a chain at the same time.

I looked at it closer today the makeshift stake was bent almost 90 degrees the trap factory ring was on the cold shut on the top of the stake and so was the tire chain in the same cold shut loop? I just don’t get the idea of the setup the tire chain might of been caught in some hay machinery in the past causing the bend in the stake.
