Nice gun ! If you can get your hands on some Dogtown Midway USA 53 gr Ammo I bet it shoots 1 inch or less. It might take 3 years before it ever becomes available but remember you heard it here first. I own a bunch of AR15 rifles and they shoot excellent in all of them. Marty

Re: New coyote rifle - 04/07/21 04:55 AM

I had 317 55 grain bullets left over from before I turned my .223 into a tactical.20, I loaded up three types of bullets, hollow point, nosler plastic tip, and sierra fmjbt
I bought 200 50 gr plastic tip too

Cool rifle, would love to shoot it. But would be the last night time home defense weapon for me.

Yes I think it's 1 in 7, all I have are 55 gr, I did see 64 gr military steel core bullets at scheels

Thanks! I might camo it, not sure yet, if I use it for coyote I might get a scope for it, looking for a drill press to use to finish my other lower

Awesome gun!
Thanks to Trudope we can't have "assault style" rifles anymore. That means no ARs.

Get a light for it if it's a bed side gun. Identifying the target is the most important. I didn't used to think it was important tell I read about a guy that shot and killed an intruder in his kitchen.

That intruder turned out to be his son that came home from college for the weekend unannounced.

Heard a kid came home from vietnam, wanted to surprise his parents, same thing.
A light is a good idea, if I have a problem I would probably grab the 9 mm handgun

Badger trapper, I bought 500 imi 55 gr soft points so I could use imi casings to make more tactical.20 casings, I have 400 left, I like the imi stuff

My understanding is the Seals use blackhills ammo in the 77 grain TMK. It's the Matchking HP(razorcore) with a tip. https://www.sierrabullets.com/product/22-caliber-77-gr-tmk/

I was listening to a Mike Drop podcast, a former seal, and he said they preferred over the green tip 64 grain fmj.

Tac 20 it's not as much the heavier bullet but the difference in expansion properties between hallow points and FMJ.

Re: New coyote rifle - 04/08/21 12:18 PM

Blackhills also makes 308 Winchester in 152 GR. Dual Performance with monolithic copper. As mentioned Blackhill, 77 grain is awesome ammo.

Re: New coyote rifle - 04/09/21 03:38 AM

I applied moly-fusion to the new rifle and applied it to the tactical.20, second time in 16-17 years
I have another barrel ready for the moly-fusion, I'll do it tomorrow.

I have a couple 223 ARs for shooting fur critters. Haven't shot anything yet. What is your preferred fur friendly bullet?
Posted By: Tactical.20

Re: New coyote rifle - 04/09/21 01:41 PM

I used a nosler 55 gr in my old .223, I think a nosler 50 gr would be good too, in my tactical 20 I prefer the berger 35 grain, berger probably makes a good .224 bullet too
