LEO Looking for Jobs

LEO Looking for Jobs - 04/13/21 10:17 PM

I learned this afternoon a number of LEO are on the market for employment after Md passed the bill removing the Police Officers Bill of Rights.

Could a citizen hire their own task force if the have the funding to do so? These people are already trained for the task.

My city has a severe shortage due to police resignations. Send them to us.

Most will likely get completely out of LE.

16 more months and I'll join them...

They don't want to come here. Our groping governor recently signed a law to remove protections from LEO'S.

If they want to come here game and fish are always hiring. Sure the pay won't be the same but the office views and activities are worth the difference.

It is beyond dangerous.

I have a friend who is a sheriff's deputy (low pay) in a high crime city. He has a very young family. He just does it out of duty. Pray for our police.

Sure. They're called civilian mercenaries or private protection specialists. :-)

There are no stats for the current climate.

They are leaving this crap hole in waves after the state passed the anti cop law. Citizens are less safe in their own homes due to our commy politicians.

I understand that Atlanta is shorthanded as well. With all that's going on the only ones that'll be left wearing a badge will be the bottom of the barrel hires and a few short timers marking time until retirement.

Whats your point? It is not the same. Yep, farming is statistically more dangerous, but it is usually because the farmer did something careless, not because the combine purposely tried to kill the farmer. Yep, construction is very dangerous, but not because a circular saw purposely tried to kill you (again, probably a careless move again). My point is, I cant think of that many other professions where other humans are the ones out to get you. If you know of some, please share. I appreciate the good officers we have, wish we had more.

Just on the news. MSP Trooper got a call and responded and shot and killed a 16 YO that had a knife and was pointing a later discovered a realistic "airsoft gun at the Trooper. This will be another one.

You have no idea the number of people that are not shot every day that earned it. One of our deputies was attacked by a guy with a machete that made a valid attempt to hit the Officer with it they Tasered the guy twice.

That officer missed his chance.

It may not be a "goal", but self defense / preservation. If he was able to tase him, he should have known the 21' rule.

Re: LEO Looking for Jobs - 04/14/21 03:49 AM

Train for worst, hope for the best. Sure, there are bad apples out there. But most of us in Military, Law Enforcement or High End Security don't want trouble. But, if we don't do it, who will?

No different then the military. Infantry units( 11b) like the one I served in only have one mission. Train to fight and fight to win. Freedom and security doesn't come free and not without sacrifices for those that do it and their loved ones. Just two years (April 11th) ago being shot at, and watching a fellow officer getting shot while returning fire, it sticks with you. We don't always think how hard it is for our loved ones. When asked, they(family and friends) will tell you. That is just the person he/ she is. There to help and sometimes that means doing things(legally) we have to live with the rest our lives.

My wife got that dreaded 3 am call once, but, thankfully it was me telling her what was going to be on the news in a few hours and I was alright and my fellow officer was being treated and would be ok. My wife's tears I don't want to see ever again unless there happy tears. And my family that called(my brother is a 24 year Sheriffs Deputy). Not one said I should give it up. They understand who I am.

Courage means going into danger without knowing the outcome. Sarge

Does it matter? Dead is dead. No one forces people to work in the private sector. Everyone that goes to work freely accepts the risks of the job. Every Citizen in the US is at risk of violent crime, not just officers.

So police officers can choose not to answer calls and patrol crime infested areas?

As a delivery driver, we can refuse service.

No worries. Soon there won’t be anyone to wage that war. We’ll be back to the good ole day’s of the Wild West before we know it. If you haven’t taught your wife and kids how to shoot, you’re a bit behind.

No I think the whole point of driving police officers out of the profession is the point, think about really think about it and why they would do that

My personal theory is that they want the crime and violence that way when they ultimately propose a national police force with the narrative that it will be safer and more fair people will line up to welcome it, partly because they are rightfully scared and are tired as well as well propagandized to think what the powers that be want, so think about county’s that have a national police force that’s answerable only to the political powers

That should scare you more then what’s going on in the city’s

And think about this, most of the current rank and file officers would not be down with gun confiscation but those in a national police force would most likely be just fine with it and probably groomed for it as well

We work it hot most of the time, an outage is a rare luxury.
