I saw that HL has paraffin wax. I was thinking bees wax was the deal. Or used to be the bees knees anyway.

I've always been leary of it. How does that wax not stink like a Hobby Lobby store? About gags me to go in there with all the perfumes, oils, and other stinks the ladies like.

I think some people add a touch of bees wax to the paraffin. I've just used the straight paraffin, works fine for me. Its wax, so it can't really absorb odors unless something gets IN the wax.

Ive used Hobby Lobby wax for years. No odor.

Why would anyone use beeswax. It has a floral/honey-type odor.

I use hobby lobby wax for making waxed dirt and waxing traps.

I was taught to add a little beeswax to my trapping wax to "soften" the wax. When using straight paraffin the wax seems to be hard and chippy. Right wrong or indifferent that's the way I was taught and never had problems with fox or yote digging it up from smelling it

The Hobby Lobby paraffin creates a good coat on my traps. Not chippy. But I do leave my traps in wax until trap heats up...usually about 5 to 8 min.

Hobby lobby paraffin and a little pine resin works well for me.

I used to add a little beeswax to parafin for beaver traps but have always used straight parafin or "odorless trap wax" for canine traps. Beeswax does make the wax a little softer and not as chippy but I didn't want the odor on canine traps.

Just ordered a bunch from hobby lobby, thanks for the tip! I miss their online 40% off coupon for wax but this works for me too. Will be making waxed dirt and waxing traps this summer.

40% off is dirt cheap! I guess my Dad used bees wax 75 yrs ago.

But wax in a trapping supplies shop, with skunky lure odors floating around, won’t do the same?

I've used the Hobby Lobby wax for years no problems. I think it comes wrapped and sealed in plastic.

Yes, wrapped and sealed. I also add a little pine resin to stop any potential flaking.

I actually gave that a little thought and decided that since the warehouse is here in OKC--the crafters will have more wax shortly.
