For you gear heads - 04/18/21 02:28 PM

So I'm under my F=150 the other day and I see this pipe like device hanging on my exhaust pipe. It's about 8" long It's solid steel and hangs between the exhaust header and the muffler. And It's hanging free on the pipe. What Is It's purpose?

I don’t own a Ford, but, it might be a part of a bracket to help support the exhaust system.

I think you fill it full of used oil and it undercoats as you drive. grin

No It's a steel pipe looking thing and It's hung off off the exhaust pipe with a hanger. And It's heavy and looks to be solid.

Re: For you gear heads - 04/18/21 08:20 PM

2002 It's nothing but a rust bucket but It still runs good and doesn't use any oil. My running board or what ever you call It was loose and the racket was driving me crazy. So I got under there to try and replace the bolts. But there wasn't much left to bolt to so I found a good spot and used a C clamp to hold It In place. Ya got to do what you got to do.
