I used it on a new vehicle last year. It will wash off eventually in areas of the underside that get a lot of water spray.
As far as slowing down existing rust.....I don't know.

Ya I don't know About existing rust, no one really say, except parts store say ya sure to make sale, this guy I know spray on rusty brake lines, mine are plastic, body shop say undercoat n paint no good on rust, sandblast first, I not do that, say oil may help little on rust, hate let rust away in humidity summer salt in winter yet waste my time on oil rust if does no good, oil well protect metal from rust, I don't know about existing rusted metal but eats away an thins the metal the rust does , scary look how layers rust come off suspension , an thinner metal left on frame around kingpins or ball joints

I had a full size chevy that rusted out at a curves in the tubular frame. Some engineer thought it was a good idea to put an opening there to collect mud, dirt and salt. Even if you wanted to be proactive about it I dont know what I could have done other that cover the opening when new?.

It can’t reverse what has been done, but it slows down future rust

Why not try the tranny fluid, pb blaster, dawn mixture someone posted the other day, I think that looked promising to stop the rust and it would be cheaper

Fluid film oil bound help stop more rust sone in existing rust , shpuld be warmer to apply do have wait till nice may weekend come up, a gallon in sprayer should be good, I didn't apply enough in past , I do rember see big flakes rust fall off in reaction to oil , probly hit it again in oct , otherwise if nothing, gonna start rot with rust an fall apart, my other old truck should be junk as save as dire emergency, rusted an frame practically rot with rust, unsafe to put on hoist , not spent a penny on it in 2 years other gas an 1 oil change, if rusted brake line blows again, have be junk unfortunately , have cost ins an license yearly which not much
