RA and diet - 04/28/21 01:20 AM
Ive gotten a lot of PMs from guys that either have RA or know someone who does. Instead of sending dozens of PMs, Im going to post some links and information here. Im NOT a doctor, Im an EMT with RA. Ive done a ton of research, and this is what works for me, and thousands of others. The most important thing I learned early on in the research I did was that scientists have come to believe that autoimmune disease starts in the gut. This triggers an immune response that can cause all sorts of problems, but inflammation is the big one. Diagnoses isnt easy for doctors, because there are so many things that have similar symptoms. The key to my diagnoses was inflammation in the blood work, and a lot of joint damage in my right wrist. They eventually X-rayed every joint in my body, and luckily only my right wrist was affected. When I started having symptoms, my wrist felt like someone had a blow torch to it. Day and night it never stopped. Then I started having the same pain in both knees, and both shoulders. I was trapping at the time, and couldnt even skin. By the time they did the blood work I pretty much knew what I had, the blood tests just confirmed it. They wanted to put me on prednisone and methotrexate. Both nasty drugs that I knew all about from my EMT work. Thats when I started doing some research.
The first person I found was Mikhaila Peterson. Heres a link. Find her podcast or read her blogs. https://thenetline.com/a-look-at-mikhaila-petersons-life/
That led me to these doctors in Hungary. They have done more work with diet than any doctors Im aware of. https://www.paleomedicina.com/en
I follow their diet. I eat meat and fat. Yes animal fat. I believe the fat is the key for me.
Dr Ken Berry's book " The Lies my Doctor Told Me" is a book everyone should read. He also has a lot of short Youtube videos that are very informative.

Phil Escott wrote a book specifically on arthritis that anyone with it should read. He also has a FB group, podcast ect. https://www.carnivorecast.com/podcast/phil
Low Carb down under has a lot of good videos by world renowned doctors as well. Anyway thats my story. There is plenty of evidence out there that a low carb, or better yet zero carb diet can help many metabolic diseases. In my case I have scientific proof it works because I just had my blood work done two weeks ago. The inflammation is gone. RA is no fun, and its something you need to get under control if you have it. Studies show that 60% of those people that get it are in a wheelchair within 10-years, and it lowers your overall life expectancy by 10-15 years. I feel better now than I have in years, and I take no meds of any kind. Hopefully this will help someone else. My thoughts were, I would rather try changing my diet than start taking the drugs that any way you look at it are only masking symptoms and ruining your liver.
