Plans for Minktoberfest in full STOP - 05/02/21 06:41 PM

2021 Minktoberfest plans are advancing rapidly. Spots are filling up and an all star lineup has me excited. This is not a school. This is a Peer Learning Experience created by everyone sharing their methods and ideas, tips and tactics. Not just about mink. Every subject and species is open for conversation. Some of the best mink, muskrat, coyote, fisher, bobcat, skunk, raccoon, gray, and red fox trappers attend. People from Texas have given mountain lion demos, New Jersey snaring, New York fisher, and trappers from all across the United States have attended. PM me if you are interested.
If you've attended please share your experiences. Thank you - I wanted to let everyone know this is something that we are inviting you to participate in as one of our peers. Hope to see you Oct 6-10.
Thursday the 7th is the first day, Oct 11 is departure on Sunday.. Many arrive on Wednesday the 6th and We feed you each day . The Group phote, table exchange, steak night is Saturday evening.

One of the most unique events in trapping. I highly recommend it to any trapper. Three days of socializing with some of the greatest trappers in the country. Everyone is very approachable and friendly. Great learning experience, great food and great friends are made.

Minktoberfest is the event of the year, great fellowship, awesome food, and it has the most demo's of any event I ever attended, most by far.

To say it’s worth it is an understatement. If you can swing it, do it.

I've been getting questions about the peer learning description. Major Boddicker was the first I heard describe it this way. What he meant was that there isn't one teacher or 10 teachers but really all teachers and all students. The format allows everyone to learn something and teach something. This is open to the person who is just getting started, switching species, and experts on all species.

Are newbies welcome or is it more for the experience crowd?

I've been to most of them, and think I can say for Don that people of ALL experience levels are welcome!

The biggest common denominator is that you are willing to teach what you know and willing to learn what you don't.

Mutual respect for everyone there is expected. Big Egos need not apply.

Don runs a FIRST-RATE peer learning experience. where else will Russ Carman look at someone like me and say "Jump in the truck. You can ride with me to the stream."?

Unfortunately life can change fast and so it is with Minktoberfest plans. We have decided to return all deposits sent in already and announce now that Minktoberfest will not be held this year. With the PTA convention soon to be we would have been close to sellout and with health uncertainty and doctor's advice we feel it is best to cancel before there is no turning back. We have strived to give our all to the event- heck I built two new buildings including an event center. I don't want to leave people disappointed so I had to make the decision as soon as possible. Checks were mailed back today. No mail on Monday though. Deep regrets and apologies sent again. Don Powell.

Hi Don,
Sorry to hear this, but you have to go with erring on the side of caution for your health. Hope that maybe next year it can happen.
Take Care,
Jim
