the last King Tigers to roll off the line... - 05/14/21 03:39 AM

Its the end of March 1945 and the Henschel tank factory in Kassel Germany is still functional. Workers frantically finish 8 King Tiger tanks for waiting crews to ride out of the factory and into battle with the advancing Americans. Sounds like a movie doesn't it, except that it was real. Both the German tankers in one of the last desperate battles of the war and the oncoming American combined armed Army guys had some serious nut sacks. And the little sucker punching Antifa and BLM "warriors" think they're real bad arses...

Thanks for sharing. I'm a confessed tank nerd. I enjoy Mark Felton vids, haven't seen this one. The king tiger was a feared beast with its super thick sloped armor and improved 88. There were 2 88s. Same bullet different case. Like 308 and 300wm. But it was about .75 mpg. When the Germans lost the oil production they seized in the east, it was a huge problem. Many tanks lost in the Bulge just ran out of fuel.

Yeah, fuel was a big thing for them in the last at least 9 months of the war. From this vid, it appears that 4-5 of the last Kings were still operational but the Krauts had no fuel for them. From what I understand, the Germans were making synthetic liquid fuels out of their lignite coal supply in the Ruhr that's what was running their war machine for the last 2 years or more of the war. Liquidizing coal, old technology now. Except for a few test locations, such as in central ND, us Americans have never really done much with it. And now probably never will.

I was in an armored calvalry company before I went to nam. Glad to be away from the armor, seemed like everyone wanted to kill the tanks, and in the tank company, your intire job was to secure their safety! Like being the baddest guy on the block, and everyone else had to protect you!

Yea some tough guys back then . How about the russian paratroopers that jumped with out a chute? !!! Yep landed in snow pack. Other side started painting rocks to get them to die thinking it was snow.

Rumor has it that Soviet paratroopers jumped into Finnish snowbanks without parachutes. ... The Soviets well knew the difference between snow and rocks. Soviet troops jumping out of low flying airplanes and into deep snow during WW2 is in fact true.

Lee, I worked with a guy that was on a landing craft in one of the pacific island campaigns. His landing craft was put out of action and he spent the night on the island. He went to one of the Marine's tanks and talked to them,it was staying put that night where he found it so he decided that he safest place to be would be under that tank for the night. He said when it got dark every #@@! Jap on that island shot at that tank all night long. Come daylight he got away from that tank and finally made it to a ship. He was quite a guy, said that wasn't one of his better brainstorms.LOL

Probably a guy in the plane shooting the non jumpers in the head.

My uncle was at the bulge, never talked much about any of it. Fine gentleman, good person all around, glad to have known people like him.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, the front armor of a king tiger was never pierced in battle. What is impressive to me is, the version of the "88", KWK43, launched a 16lb shell at a MV of 3,700 fps! 1940s tech! I think there were some tank kills logged at around 2 miles.

the germans had lots of great ideas they had the first assualt rifle which was ready near the start of the war but hitler didnt like it and he didnt adopt it till late in the war the tiger was a beast but took to long till build and used up to many valuable resources the panzer was more than enough tank most allied tanks struggled one on one but strength came in numbers for most of the war in eurpoe the germans had the best air, tanks and artillery
