Good day

Restarted our early summer tradition of Sunday morning pan fishing with the family. Got a nice mess, cleaned and eaten by 11 am. It was the dog first time in the boat, he did well and likes watching the bobbers but got a bit bored and chewed piece or lath that was laying in the bottom of the boat so next time he will get a bone. I never got my line in the water due to the speed of the fish swinging into the boat. The Niece got two just over 11 oz. Both went back we kept 13 out of probably 40 or so (didn't run the counter today.) Then this afternoon the dog timbered his first squirrel ran it through 8 trees till it made it in its drey. He's been working the tree bases well but I've been trying to get him to look up for what feels like forever. He's 8 months old so I have to rremember it takes time and I've been busy since the snow melted but I think it's time to really push the training now. Then we had our Sunday night volleyball game with extended family and friends. We've been playing every summer for 16 years lots of great memories at that bar I don't drink more than a beer these days but it's a great way to end a weekend.

Oh got a pocket gopher to scratch the trapping itch too.

Tell us about that little dog.

He is a mountain feist. Old Oak Timber is his registered name. Responds to Timber, I am very happy with his desire to please and he is one of the best listening dogs I've owned but gets wild if he isn't run hard during the day. Just a ball of energy with a great personality. Won't approach new dogs or people unless called or verbally released comes every time he is called no matter what he is doing and stays till released to the point I forgot to say come on when I went in the house Saturday and heard him whimpering/whining like ten minutes later and he was still sitting in the same spot I left him. He has a decent hunt drive and as stated before is starting to timber squirrels.

He did cost me $580 last monday when I wasn't paying attention and set my bullhead rod down still baited with chicken liver and he ate it I noticed him eating it and tackled him and held my finger in his throat on the back of his tongue so he couldn't swallow any more. My buddy James cut the line and I carried the dog while he grabbed the gear and drove to the emergency vets office. The hook was just short of the stomach and not embedded so the vet used the scope like a hook remover and it slid up the the back of his mouth where he could get it with a forceps.

Anyhow that's my dog lol

Oh he loves watching bobbers too. He likes to lick the fish but is spooked when they flop around. But he sure gets excited when one is being reeled in.

He has great lines and sounds like he would make life interesting.

I'm retiring in the next year or so and would like some kennel/breeder information.

We have a JRT and a JRT/Rat terrior cross now but the Cross is getting some age on him...

Years back I had what I think was a cross bred Feist given to me for my son. She got along well with most other dogs and livestock but her hunting instinct was super strong. If a rat or snake denned up on her you would have to haul water and feed until it came out and she could do it in. I read about your dog not coming in w/o being invited and it reminded me of her. She would wait at the back door and seemed to understand every word I spoke to her. If I said- not right now, maybe later, your paws are muddy, or anything like that she would sit patiently and wait for me to come back out. If I said something to the effect of- Ok but just for a little while, only tell my wife comes home, OK, or have you been a good little girl? she would dart in at the speed of light. IMO she was the perfect little dog for a guy with a few acres and some livestock. Easily my own personal favotite. RIP Adee (Adalida after the Geo Strait song)

No that she wouldn't eat dogfood or scraps but she definitely preferred to kill her own supper. One night I came home late and saw her eating something in the driveway. Turned out Ma Cat had welped out her latest litter a little too close to the ground and Adee helper her thin down the pack LOL. Darndest little dog I ever had
