The toad I don’t think I’ve ever seen. Black widows I see all the time.

Cool. I've never seen a wild, narrow mouth toad. We only have American and Fowler's toads here. I have only seen a few black widows and that one has the widest, boldest hourglass marking I have seen.

I've never seen a toad like either, never seen a black widow before.
Last year the seven year old had a small copper head just miss his face when it struck

I'd take spiders over fire ants all day every day. Just sayin

The narrow mouthed toads almost exclusively eat ants. They can exterminate entire colonies of ants over time, by feeding on them faster than the ants can hatch more.

Send a few down to Texas and we can see how they fare against fire ants laugh

Texas Horned Lizard (Horny Toad) eats ants too and they used to be plentiful around here, been years since I saw one frown

I see black widows pretty regular climbing in and out of manholes and raising water meter lids. They love dark damp places.
