First Full Day as a Enlisted Private.

It feels so weird to be called a actual private of the armed services. I just got sworn in yesterday and knowing that I ain't just pretending is an awesome yet shocking feeling.

I was also wondering how may other service members were on here(both currently serving and retired) and what rank you all were/are.

I was in the army and national guard later. Got out as a specialist 5.

Navy the first round then Army got out as Sgt E 5. Grandson signed up and was sworn in this spring. He signed up for National Guard and likes it. Look for him to sign on for active duty soon.

I retired from the Marines on September 1st, 2019. I was a CWO4 after 25 years. I miss it already.

Sounds like he just left MEPS for the swearing in and will be at boot camp in a day.

Well sadly I won't be shipping off to basic till Oct 26th(But it is possible that will be going sooner). And I am in the Army National Guard, so I wouldn't be shipping off too soon anyways. I also just did my physical and everything at MEPS but it took an extra day for waivers to be fully cleared and in the system for the process to move forward for me. But I'm not complaining much, I got to stay at a hotel and be fed for free for another night.

Just got out after six year, welcome to the family brother.
Just wait till you have to wake up at 03:00 to but at the armory to draw weapons and your questioning your life decisions while the weapons guys take 3hr to arrive and pass out weapons, good times goooood times

MEPS has changed completely since Vietnam(My grandpa served there), it's like you have to be perfect now to be eligible compared to then.

Congratulations young man! My career was a great time, and I never regretted a bit of it. It was actually fun!

Retired 0-4 USAR. Joined as an E-1 and 17 years old. Was an NCO before I became an officer. Had way more fun as an enlisted guy!

Started as a boot myself, in the Coast Guard Reserve in 1967. Stayed in for 27 years. Received a commission in 1980 after reaching E-6. Ended as 0-4, LCDR. Learned a lot. Now the wife and I get free health insurance and I get a monthly pension, of which she will receive a portion for her lifetime should I die first.

You are too young to appreciate the future benefit values of a military retirement, but trust us, it is valuable.
