Anybody ever make it? Got a friend that found a recipe and she wants to give it a try. Never had it, but it sure smells good when boiling traps in it. Any advice or tips from folks that have made it is appreciated

It sounds like a lot of work. How about just sumac infused vodka?

I'm allergic, about 50 years ago my brothers were in boy scouts and my parents and me went to their jamboree. It was a rainy cold fall day ( just perfect). When you went in the building that were serving hot sumac tea. This was just steeped berries. I broke out that night with lumps all over my body.
I would steep the berries and add enough sugar for my "juice".
