Why are you so upset about this if they’re handing it out in 12 smaller amounts instead of 1 large amount?

This isn’t costing you anymore then it has over the years.

What’s with all the complaining all of a sudden.

12 smaller amounts rather than 1 large amount is better anyways. Happy for all the American families that will benefit from this.

... the amount per child has been increased... so technically it is paying less than before in income tax if you work....extra free money if you don’t ... either way more money for those with children under a certain age for people under a certain income

... here’s a fat Bobcat

I'm not upset. I have no horse in this race, but in the other thread, some people are under the impression it's more handout money. It's not.

My understanding they are going by your previous tax return. PREVIOUS!!!!! So if you continue to work in 2021 then all good. But way to trusting in my opinion. And if the tax payer decides not to work. What is the plan to collect??? NONE!

That is a fat bobcat. Nice. I saw a dead one on the shoulder a few days ago. 4 hours later it had disappeared. Summer hair and all. I am getting itchy. Ready to wander around outdoors in some nice cold weather. So far at least summer hasn't been awful. has not hit 100 here yet.

So the tax credit is $3,000 a year per child?

Is the $250 a month going to be viewed as income?

Heard on the news that people that don't work or file taxes are eligible. So I believe that is a difference?

You are somewhat correct but not totally. IF a mother of 6 with 3 under 6 HAS NEVER WORKED. Or works for a low paying job. She will draw more per month than most retired people that worked all there life.

3 Times 300 per month = 900
3 times 250 per month= 750
1650 bucks a month "tax credit" LOL LOL It will be deposited into her account using the same routing numbers as the stimulus checks. Hence "FREE" money
It is no longer is a credit if it equals more than your income !!!! IT IS FREE HAND OUTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my son and daughter in law have a 9 and 6 year old. They got a letter wanting to know if they wanted it per month or lump sum added to their taxes. IT IS in Addition to the tax credits already in place.

Plus BOBO will make it tax exempt mark it down

Re: Some people have no clue on child tax credit. - 07/15/21 10:13 PM

The fact that they are now monthly in payment instead of in a lump sum changes how they will be spent or utilized. Yes there are increases in amounts, time frames and also adjustments that give the higher rates even if there are not offsetting taxes. For all those that will receive these payments it is almost certain that most of it will be used in living better, upgrading household items etc. The upper income families with children may well be able to save some or all or reduce debt etc. The 100 Billion or so will most likely increase the cost of ordinary items and typical living expenses which will be not so good for those not receiving those payments. We are adding a lot of liquidity to our economy and as has always been typical of our materialistic culture we are spending like crazy. I can see credit card bills going up because buying sprees typically never end when the cash gets tight.

I can just see the screaming now when people realize they won’t get the huge windfall to squander at tax return time. If i sell a toy like an ATV or something I always wait until about March when all the people with kids blow their refunds on stuff they don’t need.

Re: Some people have no clue on child tax credit. - 07/15/21 10:20 PM

Is this the same tax credit that people get that don’t pay in on it like in past years like welfare types?
Posted By: v2k

Re: Some people have no clue on child tax credit. - 07/15/21 10:22 PM

The number of families eligible increased also. A couple making $150,000 will get these payments now. The payments went up and the number of people eligible went up.

Re: Some people have no clue on child tax credit. - 07/15/21 10:24 PM

Most that received child tax credits in the past paid taxes and the credits reduced their total due, some probably received a refund but it was not more then the taxes paid in unless other factors were met. No this is not the same as the EIC or Earned Income credit where the credit was based on a level of earned income up to a specific level, the number and age of the children. This credit could exceed any taxes paid and no persons on welfare did not receive EIC as assistance payments are not earned income. They however may have qualified for credits based on other factors.

Yes and then next December....

Fur Buyer: "Where'd you get this cat....the fur looks like you caught it at the 4th of July picnic?"

Earnest Trapper: "Nope, just caught him Friday night."

Fur Buyer: "He's all dehydrated, only weighs a fraction of what he should, Friday night huh?"

Earnest Trapper: "Yeah , I don't know...we got a new freezer, maybe it's just really efficient."

Fur Buyer: "Well, once they get that dried out they can be impossible to skin. I'll gamble on him for $10."

Earnest Trapper:

"$10!!!?, ...... but it's a bobcat......my cousin in Montana sold one for $500. You thieving are all the same.

Fur Buyer: "OK sir , well thanks for the opportunity to look at him, have a great day."

Rusty I hate taxes! Not the fact that I have to pay them but what the money is used for. Is this the line on your tax form that asks for how many children you have? If so there are some lines under it that take money away for every so many dollars you make over so many dollars. If fact the last few years the fruits of all my labors have started to come to fruit. The gov. took away my wife and I being able to get credit for all our children. A kid costs what a kid costs! In fact I invest a LOT in mine! Our system sucks. I understand helping families in need. But a system where you are rewarded for having a bunch of kids you struggle or do not plan to provide for and then penalizing those who work their rear off so their kids can have a better life is a abomonation (sp)! Also very discouraging! Not aiming at you just adding to the thread.

Pay for no work. Kamala Harris spoke today. This payment is generational. Meaning permanent. So yes. Fast track to socialism. Keep working. So the young don’t have to. So they become dependent forever. Let the high times roll

Re: Some people have no clue on child tax credit. - 07/15/21 11:42 PM

This is my opinion on this subject. The child tax credit sent out each month will be cash in their pockets to be spent not a credit against their taxes.

I would like to see how much money is spent on this program compared to the PPP program that allowed most farmers, ranchers, to collect over $20,000 each just by going to there local bank and applying. In my little town I added up what the handout from the government was in just this program and it was over a million and a half dollars. Most every farmer got over $20,000, some $40,000 if they applied twice. Multiply this by number of farmers in every zip code and you can see some serious money.

I am all for helping out someone that has trouble paying his rent, putting food on his table, and giving his family decent health care. What I detest is my tax dollars helping people PROSPER. What I mean by that is why should my tax dollars help large land owners who live on the lake and drive new pickups receive any handouts (WELFARE) from me.

Thought about that. If you can't beat them, then join them.

I also believe a certain percentage should go into a roth Ira and not touched until the child is an adult. Draw out too soon, you get penalized. After all, it's for the kids, RIGHT. Sarge

BEST post on this thread. You sir are CORRECT!!! I know of several farmers that got the PPP. One local logger got $52 thousand. He bought a 250 tract of land a few weeks later....with that down payment that he doesn't have to pay back.

No They are setting the ground work to do away with the extra unemployment. NOW it will be child payments. You think a mother of 4,5 or 6 kids is going to work if 1650 bucks a month is going into her checking account? Don't drink the koolaid. They tought it as monies for daycare so they can go back to work. How about paying it direct to day care.

Hey adopt a foster kid. Free health care free dental, PLUS boocoo tax credits and monthly income. In ky the rate is based on what the state would spend on a kid if they where a ward . Close to 2,000 PER MONTH !!!! PER KID !!!!

Found a link that clarifies a lot of confusion. Only half of the credit is paid the other half is claimed when filing. Monthly payments until end of year.

I've lost track of who exactly is the misfortunate among us. Who most would say are deserving of public assistance. It's all mixed up now to the point that between state and federal programs, the trough is huge and getting huger.

Example: before we sold our home in March, couple came from CA and bought a home in our area. $600,000. Nice vehicles.
CA medicaid was their insurance and they were trying to figure out how to get on TX medicaid and were complaining over brats and brews how much harder TX was on this issue, but he is an attorney and he said he'll make it happen.

I just sipped my brew and asked the new neighbor dude why he was chasing medicaid when it looked like they had done well financially.
Do not ask that Q of new neighbors was my lesson!
It was like I killed his puppy.

Tiss the new Merica I guess.

Blessings,

Mark there are many folks out there who have ways we may never understand, and everyone has different wants and needs.
Was standing in retail store the other day perusing through a clearance rack of t shirts looking for a couple cheap t-shirts for fishing and mowing lawn, that sort of thing. A mom and young fellow came over and she grabbed one off the rack and held it up for the young boy to see, and he shook his head no. She said but it has a nice logo on it? The boy said mom it also says ".....2019" and I can't wear that to school, kids will make fun of me.
I quickly realized she was school shopping for this young high schooler. They moved on down the isle, I sheepishly took a couple crappy $1.99 discount T's to the counter and pondered that moment.
Then I thanked God for my blessings, bought a $50 gift card at the counter, and told the cashier what I wanted to do. I pointed out the woman still in the store and the cashier was going to approach the woman and say, m'am a gentleman was just in here and got this as store credit and he can't use this at this store because he lives out of town, can you use it?
I pray that worked and she took it, I didn't hang around to find out.
I'm no fan of helicopter handouts from government, but a targeted assistance is generally a good thing. I have no clue on child tax credit $ now vs later for some folks...but my impression was here was a lady that might possibly benefit.

If by coffers you mean income taxes every case will be different. I can only tell you that as long as farmers and ranchers buy some farm equipment every year or keep some livestock the income taxes they pay will be minimal compared to what they reap. A lot of farms in my area were paid for before they even had to pay federal income taxes. I am reminded of talking to a farmer that was complaining he had to pay income taxes one year yet he owned a nice farm. I told him I would love to pay the income tax on a million dollars, even every year. He was able to pay for a farm and amass a good deal of money yet he never paid much in taxes. So to answer your question “how much to farmers pay into the coffers?”. The answer is no where near what they reap.

My Niece just got a check for $800+ for the 3 miracles, no way they pay that into the system so it sounds like free money to me if not what part did I get wrong? He hubby was offered a managers position at a fast food place years back and quit so they would not lose the free money.

Same guy that was looking for different cellphone carrier because he owed a lot on the one he had at the time. mad
