Agreed. Flat bottoms are sketchy and highly unstable. Fast as heck but loose. Plus getting out of sorts at that speed (80+mph) has a high lethality probability on the water.
I was being careful and was wearing a certified inboard racing vest a full face helmet and a tether to the kill switch. The GoPro has GPS in it and I had no idea what my speed was until i watched the video and added the speedometer overlay. I could change the gears in the v-drive and get more speed but there is no reason for me to push my luck. It has plenty of punch and is a lot of fun. The conditions on our lake are not conducive to going that fast most of the time. But I wanted to test out the GoPro and got geared up just in case the planets lined up and gave me enough calm water to hold the pedal down a little longer.
Cool ride flipper
My friend used to drag race flat bottoms , lots of fun ..
I run a cracker box style wood boat with a 302 Ford -
Mine is direct drive , point it and hit the start button ..
Drives off the nose of crankshaft... fun stuff ..
I really like cracker boxes, post some pics for us of your boat.
