And any other old hot rodders and boat lovers. It's a 1974 Rayson-Craft V-Drive Drag Boat that has been restored. Some of you wanted to see more after I posted a video of her maiden voyage.

80 that moving on water

20 seems to be about as slow as it likes to keep running

so much for slow no wake zones , just hope you can be loaded and gone before the warden catches up with you

Thanks.

It idles at 1000 rpm after it's warmed up, I don't make a bigger wake than a waverunner. No reason to fear the law, I didn't do anything wrong.

Could not use that boat in Minnesota ; cause there is no mosquito screen on the front.

Was waiting for a camera shot of the motor….by the whining sound…..it’s either a gear drive….or a Blowah on there…? A cup of Coffee and some throttle therapy…is a good way to staaht any day !

Here you go Nessie, V-Drive is right beside you and the prop release makes a lot of noise.

Very nice ride. Tim Allen would be proud.

What is it capable at full sustained WOT ? ( plus zero chop and maybe a good tailwind )

Thanks, I am not sure it has much more, flat bottoms get sketchy quick so I was ready to let off. I am not looking to add more speed, it's plenty fast for this old man.

Agreed. Flat bottoms are sketchy and highly unstable. Fast as heck but loose. Plus getting out of sorts at that speed (80+mph) has a high lethality probability on the water.

Cool ride flipper
My friend used to drag race flat bottoms , lots of fun ..
I run a cracker box style wood boat with a 302 Ford -
Mine is direct drive , point it and hit the start button ..
Drives off the nose of crankshaft... fun stuff ..

I was being careful and was wearing a certified inboard racing vest a full face helmet and a tether to the kill switch. The GoPro has GPS in it and I had no idea what my speed was until i watched the video and added the speedometer overlay. I could change the gears in the v-drive and get more speed but there is no reason for me to push my luck. It has plenty of punch and is a lot of fun. The conditions on our lake are not conducive to going that fast most of the time. But I wanted to test out the GoPro and got geared up just in case the planets lined up and gave me enough calm water to hold the pedal down a little longer.

Friend of ours took this photo of us going by last Sunday when I took the wife for a cruise. My wife loves it with an occasional launch on a little stretch of calm water.

Once a gear head…always a gear head. I had a set up like that on a 454 Chevy motor …in my 57 Chevy Station Wagon [Linked Image]
