Lol...reminds me of when I was about 20yo.
I had borrowed a friend's van to take a girl on a date. ( I think you know why I borrowed the van....lol )
Driving down the road and the headlamps go out , I pull into a gas station and find out that the battery hold downs are real loose and the battery had slid forward and the terminals are contacting the hood. I have no tools or parts with me. I walk over to the garbage can and find a cardboard box. I take the box and fold it up about 4 times and use it to make a wedge to hold the battery where it belongs.
Good to go , I continue down the road.
A couple miles later , the headlamps go out again , pull into another gas station. I find out that when the battery slid into the hood , one of the battery cables had come loose. Again . no tools or parts. Walk over to another garbage can and I spot a soda can in it. I take the soda can and tear it apart and pulled off a strip of aluminum and use that to wrap the battery terminal post and jam the cable onto it. All fixed.
As this is going on I'm grumbling to myself over this van cramping my style. What I did not realise was I was impressing the heck out of my date with my McGuyver skills.
Made good use of the van after that....
