I'm sure most of us don't prefer wearing ties but when you do what's your preferred knot?
Usually I go with a Windsor knot but today I'm trying a Rose Bud knot in preparationfor a wedding. Doesn't look bad, would look much better on a solid color tie. Just like a Windsor knot but a couple extra loops
Back in the dark ages, when I wore a tie every day, it was always a Windsor. Make that a half dozen times in the last twenty years.
However:
With the recent mask mandates, I've gone back to the bandana I used to use while mowing. Now, its a Buckaroo (square) knot. It is extremely functional. It stays in place all day after pulling the "mask" up and down a couple dozen times a day.
I don't own a suit or a tie. I used to have to wear one every day when I worked at a grocery, back when I was 17. I have no idea what the knot was, but I could tie it well.
I saw an interesting write up on why Brits added the Tie to their military uniform one time , they taught how to use it as a tourniquet and a few other things
I bought a 3 pack of one hand usable tourniquets and they can keep the neck noose
now the yellow/gold silk scarf of the US Calvary uniform made more sense and I could get behind that
Windsor or half Windsor. I have always thought it best to side on classic rather than try the newest fad. 20 years from now the Windsor will still look good in pictures and the others will look gimmicky.
