Losing dad

Losing dad - 08/03/21 12:23 AM

Well it’s my turn for grief. Put my dad on life support and getting family in to pull plug in morning. Brutal stuff. My dad and I wasn’t the closest growing up but gained steam in recent years. He was put on home dialysis a year a go and I think it just took its toll. He was to be 81 in 10 days, boy I miss him already.

Sorry for your loss. When my dad passed 16 years ago it was tough, I couldn't talk about him without shedding tears.

Sorry for the grief you are going through

I am fortunate to have known 3 great grandparents and both sets of my grandparents

I dread the day I say goodbye to my parents

So sorry to hear of the sad news. I have been there and done that and know the pain of loosing your parent. I was holding my mom's and dad's hand when they took their last breath. Be sure to spend a few moments alone with him and tell him you love him. He will be with you always and you will get to see him again.

It sucks when it’s your turn to take a swing at it. I buried both my wife’s parents and my dad….We still talk about them as if they were here…and everyone laughs….just like they would have wanted it. Live goes on…they are just saving a seat for yah.

Prayers sent.

19 years ago on July 31 I went through the same thing.

Glad you were able to reconnect.

Re: Losing dad - 08/03/21 08:34 PM

My condolences.
Ten years ago, my dad was on life support after a stroke that targeted his brain stem. He could only communicate with one hand a single squeeze was yes and two was no. Very hard to watch him pass.
Right now my brother in law is battling stage 3 multiple myeloma (bone cancer). He will turn 81 this month. We did a lot of things together, hunting, fishing, shooting and traditional archery. Sure going to miss him when it's time.
My wife is going through an event with her dad. He fell at home and cracked his hip socket and we think he hit his head. His dementia as we knew it wasn't too bad, but after this fall it has gotten worse, very fast. The CAT scan shows advanced significant dementia. So her and her siblings are tasked with the decision to place him in a Nursing home.
This year seems like a bad year for some of us.
