Easy way to make and secure your “Dive Pole “…..Just be sure to use a “ DEAD “ stick…you know,the one with no bark on it ,

Does it need to be buffed to a high shine like the one (dive pole) in your photo?

i will be tuning into any and all beaver tips

That thing on the bottom is a PITA.
I got a half dozen to try one time,found little use for them here.
They were always tangled up in something.

The KBs work well on 280s at otter crossovers or shallow flows, but I rarely have used them with 330s.

In my opinion your dive stick Is a bit on the small side. Lots of beaver will just swim over It.

A bigger dia stick won't fit too good in the spring eyes, maybe a 2nd or 3rd stick stacked over it?

They're great on hard or rocky bottoms...any place it's hard to drive a stake, stand or stabilizer.

Good way to stabilize but stack some more wood over the top of that dive stick stabilizer.
While that system Is a good way to stabilize your BG your very limited as to where you can use It.

Great set up for otter on small channels emptying into larger streams.

I've used that setup on bottom edge for otter. Make the stick long enough and push one end into a mud bank. Helps stabilize the trap when the bottom is rock and gravel.

That trap appears to be on a KB stabilizer, and I love them.Easy and quick to set. The picture clearly shows that the trap must be wired to the stabilizer so that you don't lose it once the trap is fired.

Beav…..I wire those stabilizers to a leaning pole ..5 feet off the ground..and snap a 220 on it for Fisher . and if it’s in a cross ovah ….when the critter is caught ,it’s able to slide out of the way and keep that cross ovah open . The old “H” stands don’t do that. Plus trying to drive a chew stick into these rocky bottom streams sucks.

Must be nice to have soft mud everywhere….lol

Actually no soft mud in open water spring beaver trapping,the ground under the water and up on the land remains frozen for a couple weeks at least after the creeks are open.
Tried using those things under those conditions-no good.
Better is a railroad angle bar and a rubber bungee cord.Drop anywhere-Rock solid.
I often use a stick thru the spring eye to hang a 330 in a run.

That looks like a great set, Nessmuck. If I was still trapping, I'd give it a try.

Each area has it's unique characteristics. When someone is use to trapping in their area, and have only worked their area, one doesn't think that there may be different circumstances in different areas. I found that usually there was a learning curve when I went from one area to another. Some of the learning curves were slight and others were significant. I was fortunate to trap beavers in Virginia, South Dakota, Maryland, Alaska, Up of Michigan and North Carolina.

When I started nuisance trapping for the RR I had to trap about 200 miles thru the Canadian shield rock,north of North Bay right up to Kenogami.
Sure did have to figure out things fast since I was used to trapping the claybelt and Muskeg country.Did a lot of cursing.

A buddy of mine went out to trap in BC in the mountains for a season,he said he was so happy to get back to flatland of NE Ontario he kissed the ground when he got off the plane,lol.He said there was no flat land anywhere out where he was trapping and he was either walking uphill or downhill all season,lol.

they work real well on rocky bottoms here and slow water ,
