I wouldn't usually have a problem helping someone out if they run out of gas, to get some for them. Here lies another problem with these electric autos.

If they fail IN route to a destination and run out of energy, what do you do? I think I have the answer. Anyone who wants to keep your gas/diesel truck, carry a portable generator in the box.

Then you can charge up teir vehicle for a nominal fee, say $100 to get them going. Its only fair to help out those who want to save the planet.

What do I hear here? grin

PS: I'll be carrying a couple of gallons of gas after my cap goes on.

$100.00 would not be enough. It might take hours to charge one enough to get them on the road again.

I don't see how running out of electricity in an electric car is any different than running out of gas in a regular car. Either way, you're stuck. The only difference I can see is that the technology to quickly refuel on the side of the road is y available........yet

When I see people run out of gas I wonder about their vast stupidity.

I did to until one day my excursion died on the interstate. The fuel gage read just at 1/4 of a tank and I was 5 miles from where I was planning on stoping for fuel. The overhead said I had 130 miles tell empty . The gage and digital display are both wrong.

I have also been busy knew I was low but forgot to stop. Noticed when I got home I was on E. But I keep several 5 gal cans at the farm so no big deal.

It happens some day maybe it will happen to you. It has me.

Maybe there still would be a learning curve on my part also.

Cash and deliver. Enough for them to get to a charger.

What voltage is needed? I could do 220 from my generator.

I imagine the service trucks will all be carrying diesel generators!

flat bed , is the answer to nearly anything electric car , they come pick your car up and drop it off at the shop

for those who plan to drive far , carry a spare fuse and know how to change it , it is under the back seat in a tesla , super charge +drive hard + supercharge + drive hard = fuse blow

a co-worker has a tesla , he said it takes 5 hours on the 40 amp 240 outlet he had installed in the garage for the approximately 35 miles a day his wife drives it , she always drives in regenerative braking mode and does not drive hard

it could probably be done charging sooner if she didn't use the heat or air which cost you about half your range if you like it warm or cool and it is cold or hot out.

a charge chart

now the infrastructure question

for places with power issues already just imagine every house adding a 2nd and possibly 3rd big house air conditioner and running them all most of the night

Yeppers ya need 50 amps at 240 volts to charge at the 11.5Kw in that list. If ya have 2 of those speedy golf carts. Thats according to Adam Riese 100 amps over 28 hours. If this crap catches on, its going to make for some warm power line cables. Of course they will have to build coal and nuclear power plants to run these external combustion engines as what we have now is not even close to enough in the power plant sector.

Re: Truck Generator! - 09/30/21 07:14 PM

so the lie , oh we will just power it off of wind

ok current wind production in kwh is about 375 billion divide that by 11.5kwh to charge your car then by 365 the number of days in a year and you get 89 million charges is what the current wind electric production of north America the problem is if they get there way and everyone is driving a battery powered car , won't we need like 89 million charges a day ok even if you drive less and we need like 89 million charges a week we need 52 times the current capacity of wind .

if your going to power it with wind , you need between 52 and 365 more wind mills for every one already in place

not sure about you but every wind farm i have seen going in is met by opposition of the people who live there.

I worked for a while for Enercon. A big wind turbine manufacturer. Way back when a duck or eagle or some other bird was found dead near one of the turbines and that woke up the green folks and in Europe they went on a rampage against wind energy as .... as they put it massacre migratory birds. One of the biggest problem to this day is to get planning permission for a new wind park. Thats why a lot of those projects went as being built of the coast now. Not that they kill less birds there, but its a job for the green folks fo find any evidence. They are very good at sawing with a vengeance on the branch that they sit on. No doubt it will start here as well once they will want to build big wind farms to power those speedy golf carts inbox numbers. Its all a dog and pony show in the end. With big back handers for the politicos that get to make the deals on projects.

Friend of mine in Hawaii ran out of gas. Once. Took him 2 days to find out where his car had been towed to. Now he fills up at half a tank.
It won't be long the lektrik cars will have a reserve battery to get you another 50 miles. At an additional charge of course.
