Black ground dwelling flying insect? - 09/19/21 05:55 PM
Was out in the shed this morning and there are 1/4" burrows with fine dirt everywhere. Saw what looked like a black mud dobber crawl out of one and fly off. Any idea what they are?

The holes will have a few paralyzed insects in them with wasp eggs on them.

Wasp or hornet? Isn't it the common wasp that builds the paper nests under the eaves? Mean daggum things.
