There are a number of small puffball species and those do appear to be one of them, but I would get a local expert to identify them for you. It's not worth the risk to eat fungus you are uncertain of.
Diane found and cooked a giant puffball back in July. It was excellent fried. I've never seen a giant puffball during the Summer. There was no mistaking it for anything else.
It tasted good enough that I would not hesitate to order it at a restaurant, if I didn't have easy wild access to giant puffballs.
