For what? In the military you can not bad mouth you superiors. He was in the wrong, even though what he said was true.

The military commanders badmouthing their CIC faced no backlash when Trump was Pres.

He was forcing them to lock him up. By going on social media after he was ordered not too everyone knew it happened.
The officer also seemingly realized that last post could result in his trip to the brig.

"What happens when all you do is speak truth and no one wants to hear it. But they can probably stop listening because… I’m crazy… right?" Scheller wrote at the end of the post. "Col Emmel please have the MPs waiting for me at 0800 on Monday. I’m ready for jail."

They should have Gary. Trump bringing them up on charges would have just given media more fodder. That colonel was well aware he could say anything in private but public comments, especially in uniform, violate UCMJ.

I feel for the man. I get his frustration. He knew he would be arrested. Took a lot of courage.

It sounds to me like LTC Scheller has made a very hard decision to force a truth as defense scenario knowing he will lose.
He knowingly violated a direct order but I hope in the fallout the truth will be put on the record.

The record keepers are the ones jailing him. Good luck with getting the truth on record.

The UCMJ does not lend itself well to trial in the court of public opinion.

IMO, but his, and our, only slim hope is for a honest assessment by a military jury of his peers. Win, lose or draw it may very well boil down in the long term just what his fellow field grade commanders decide if not now at the court martial but in the future when orders come down from the politicized general staff.

But our military industrial complex is a durable institution and I don't hold out much hope.

They've court martialed many others like Scheller in the past. COL David Hackworth and GEN Billy Mitchell come to mind.

OK, guys I will put my 2 cents worth in, but I'm biased. I don't know what has happened to taking a oath, when your drafted or volunteerly sign up.
But, this guy took that oath, to obey his superiors. (You can refuse a direct order if it is illegal order), but you better have your ducks in a row if your going to do it. If he wants to spout off then he should have resigned his commission, then spout off all he wanted. Dissent in the military by it's officers, is not condusive to good military order.
If he was in my command, I would have had him in the office, heels locked, and ripped him up one side and down the other, until all of my frustrations was gone.
Now this guy has got to think if what he did was worth it, his military career is over, he faces possible court marshall, loss of his rank, loss of his retirement benefits, and a possible dishonorable discharge.

Now I don't like what took place, and I think it was wrong and really screwed up the way it was handled and say it out loud because I'm no longer in the military.

He was quitting so he was willing to give up his retirement....the dumb fool likes freedom more than money which is why many people think he is nuts.

Much like marriage, when you raise your right hand and say "I Do", you lose most of your rights.

I'm not saying he didn't lose those rights, just impressed he was strong enough to speak up and act on a wrong.

Sorry MJM not looking for a debate or argument but I stand by the Lt. Co. Marine Corps history dictates you stand by and for what is right when it comes to your fellow Marine. If Chesty Puller was still alive the Lt. Col would be out of jail. Chesty proved that on several occasions. To be reprimanded or even reduced in rank I would accept but not to be jailed. Mark my words, this will not rest or end easy with the Marines. I only speak because I was a in the Marines and know a little about protocol. This countey is fast going in the toilet. God Bless the Lt. Col and the system darned.

Well Maddog47 Since you were a marine, what if he was disobeying your order to stay off social media about it. You can't disobey an order if front of the entire world and expect the ones in charge to say OK. I am not saying what Biden did was right, but the Lt Co. was way out of line. If he would have shut up, once ordered to back off, He would have been fine. But you have to know when to keep your mouth shut. If you know protocol you know when you are told to shut up that's what you do. I spent 20+ years in the service.

Spade stole my comment. He quit anyway. All he had to do was quit before he spoke his mind. Sounds like he knew that doing it this was was going to get him sent to jail. Maybe he is crazy. Going to jail doesn't do anybody any good.

If this nation wasn't in the state it's in then the LtCol. wouldn't have had to say the things he did.

And I hate to say it, but at this point I would not encourage any of my kids to join the service. It has slowly degraded to the point that it no longer lives up to the ideals it once did. It's just a matter of time before our armed services will be used against us. It's coming.

Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller, whose viral video criticized senior military leaders for their botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, is reportedly planning to plead guilty for his actions at his scheduled court-martial at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina on Thursday.

Scheller faces charges of contempt toward officials; disrespect toward superior commissioned officers; willfully disobeying a superior commissioned officer; dereliction in the performance of duties; failure to obey an order or regulation and conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman. The charges are the equivalent of misdemeanor-level offenses.

Lawyers started citing examples of higher ups accusing the last Commander in Chief of similar things with no repercussions at all.

His parents were on Hannity a while back. I don't know if the msm even covered it. They don't seem to have much time for people who speak the truth.

Presidents aren't usually legally accountable for mistakes they make in office.

However else you want to characterize it, Biden's Afghanistan policy (more or less a continuation of the Trump policy) was a mistake. No one could possibly seek the amount of criticism Biden has received.
