What's your favorite colored bucket? Does Loud Lures make a difference like Dunlap Soul Taker and or Caven's Hiawatha Valley Predator Bait?

I use a white bucket. In the snow it is harder for thieves to see.

Back when coon were worth $20_25 ea. I did the buckets 25 years ago up until 10 years ago when coon went up for a year. Now I use cages and dog proofs for ADC jobs. 220 and 160 wood box's are better for me anyway

The colors cheap or free work best in square buckets. If you’re still wanting wood cubbies try this.

A lot of people now are too young to remember the year of the blue bucket shortage and how it lead to Lowes changing the color of their buckets to blue.

Now second part of my question the Skunky loud lures do they work?

Re: Any Bucket Trappers? - 10/01/21 05:17 AM

For coon? I mean sure you'll get coon sometimes on a skunky lure but it sure wouldn't be my first choice.

Exactly! Has to be real cold out for me to focus only on a skunky lure.

Like real cold.

But that said, almost anything will check out skunk odor if the time is right.

Yes they work, for the purpose the are intended. No lure or bait will bring a critter to where it doesn’t want to be.

If you put your trap where it wants to be, you’ll catch it.

I found color don't matter , for lure it sweet like anise , a drop goes a long way

Re: Any Bucket Trappers? - 10/01/21 11:12 AM

Blue.

Didn't think this was even debatable any more.

We’ve had the conversation on colors so many times if it’s not blue you probably won’t catch anything

You catch a few in off colored buckets, but it's mostly the young of the year. You won't see many of those big ol 2X and greater ridge runners.

Blue buckets and super skunky lures when the coons are prime will get more of 3&4XL males than you even knew you had around.

Was in Sams Club yesterday. Saw stacks of square buckets in the cake decorating area.

Blue buckets. Not even close. Only a novice would use a home depot orange bucket.

Sorry to disagree with you. But some coon will NOT put their head In bucket set. No matter what you use for bait or lure.

Spoken like someone that's only ever used orange or white buckets.

Skunky lure will not catch possums, never.
And your Welcome.

Re: Any Bucket Trappers? - 10/02/21 01:11 PM

I get most of my buckets at yard sales, and I am willing to pay top dollar for the blue buckets. Others I will buy but have to be cheap or free, say .25 each.

Buckets set with conibears are dog killers!!!
Posted By: SpottedOwl

Re: Any Bucket Trappers? - 10/02/21 07:24 PM

Why? They don’t have to be dog killers. In all the years I’ve ever used them, haven’t even caught a dog, let alone killed one. Don’t be stupid how or where they get used and things will be fine.

Disagree all you want Beav. And I agree they won’t always put their head in a bucket set.

I was talking about if they would come into a skunky lure.

I said they won’t come into any lure or bait if they don’t want to be there. I said to put a trap where the critter wants to be .
