It was up there in the beaver Tail Comp last year number 3 or 4

It's in a pretty clean run that was off the main channel that really didn't have much mud. We also cleaned him off with a towel

Very nice! Don't often see them as dark as that in Oregon. And of course when you do they're usually from the northwest coastal streams.

Boco, it is the rare beaver in Oregon that will make a shearing grade.

Back when beaver were being transplanted around the state in the 30's and 40's there was an effort to catch a local subspecies of beaver from around the mouth of the Columbia (Castor canadensis spp idoneus) because of its darker, finer, more luxurious fur. Game commission records I have in possession shows they live trapped and transplanted about 120 of them to some of the streams just south of the mouth of the Columbia like the Nehalem and others where beaver were either absent or in low numbers.

I wonder if your beaver had some idoneus bloodlines?
