Even down here in the tameness of Idaho, I still stick with the standby munchies I relied on in Alaska. Water, jerky (now deer or elk, not moose and caribou), and a roll of chocolate chip cookie dough. Because of the lack of real cold, no longer need the agoutaq to stay warm.

Those cheese crackers are a trapline must have for sure. I also usually take jerky and granola bars. If I'm gonna be gone alllll day I usually take a sandwich too.

Not much for the chew but without my Dew I'd be limping back home whipped by mid-afternoon.

Anything that would fit in a Muff Pot/Hot Dogger like chimichanga, breakfast burritos and bottled water in the tub in the engine compartment to keep from freezing. Breakfast burrito and coffee from the local coffee stand for the 1-1/2 hour drive to the trap line trail head!

I have to eat a lot of caribou fat when trapping season is in full swing. Im losing weight even though my calorie intake is doubled. Takes a lot of energy to stay warm

Vienna sasage in a can is the official food of my Youtube Ch. pull the lid open and slap them on an open fire. Easiest thing to cook in the bush don't burn like regular hot dogs. Just need Zoodels with a pul top and have the perfect bush meal. Do beans come with pull top lids? That might work also.

Re: food for the trap line - 10/15/21 12:01 AM
I make trail mix, not the kind I sell for coons, but real trail mix for humans. I like dried fruits, nuts, and sometimes M&M's or Reese's Pieces added in. Then of course truck jerky too. That's what we call it because all fall and winter I try to keep a bag of home made jerky in the truck. Sometimes made from deer, beef, rabbit, goose, whatever....
